Hatrið mun sigra - pronouciation of ð
I have heard some people pronounce the ð in “hatrið” like an “o” sound which is very incorrect.
Most fonts make it look like an o with a weird cross above it but it is actually a d with a dash through the stem. It is clearer in the capital version of the letter:
Ð as opposed to D
The letter ð makes a -th sound like in “this” or “that”.
It can also be more of a toneless/blowy sound like in “Thor” and is usually pronounced like that in the song by Hatari.
(There might be a more academic way of describing this but I’m just a very exited Icelander that wants to educate people on this amazing language)
