#Gibsunday flashback to many years ago at @12fretguitar #Toronto and a 1970s #L5S, Norlin’s solidbody version of #Gibson’s flagship #L5 archtop. It’s kind of clunky looking but I love the bling...”flowerpot” headstock inlay, abalone block inlays, ebony fretboard (note how it comes to a decorative point? I love that!), multi-ply binding, gold hardware, fancy tailpiece and flamey maple top. It’s also thin like an SG, which I like. Actually the only thing I actively dislike about it is the “harmonica” bridge. I’m sure it is functional...I just think it looks silly. 😆 We know this one is from between 1974 and 1976 because it has humbuckers (when they came out in 1972 they had the same low impedance pickups as the #LesPaul Recording model) and Gibson changed to a stop tailpiece on these models by 1976. .
