Ok, I’ve been on a bit of a bender because I’ve been playing nonstop in between working on FullerTones stuff, but I’m finally ready for... Day 1: Favorite Theme Song This one from the moment I thought of doing this was going to be “Simple and Clean” because duh and it still give me the most feels. But after literally sitting on my couch staring at my screen and letting it loop for a good 15 minutes, I realized that it ALWAYS had to be “Dearly Beloved”. It’s beautiful and ethereal and gives me so many emotions that I don’t feel anywhere else. And the KH3 version even more so! Day 4: Favorite Organization XIII member Besides Roxas being the obvious choice, and Marluxia who I’ve already chosen as my favorite boss fight, this bitch takes the cake. I absolutely loathed Larxene through Chain of Memories. She played her part as a villain extremely well. She’s the girl you love to hate. She’s scary, sadistic, coy. And she packs a real punch with those foudre. Day 6: Favorite Battle Music It was definitely hard to choose, but it has to go to “Tension Rising”, originally from KH2. The name says it all. You can really feel the struggle and the anticipation and anxiety that comes from an important battle. It builds and ebbs and flows beautifully and powerfully. Day 7: Favorite Protagonist Everybody hates the Roxas prologue in KHII, but I was so interested in who this new character was and their connection to Sora. The more I played KHII, the more I fell in love with Roxas and his motivations and personality. He has such a passion and an anger towards the world for ripping him away from his friends. Like, he’s so completely done with everybody’s shit at all times and I really feel that. It’s such a stunning juxtaposition to Sora’s happy attitude. 358/2 Days just solidified that and delved even deeper into his personality and interactions with the other Nobodies. And his ability to dual wield key blades without a Drive Form is amazing. Day 8: Favorite opening cinematic Hands down, by far, Kingdom Hearts II. The music was perfect, the scenes worked perfectly with it. Beautiful animation. I was a lil lost because I hadn’t played CoM before KH2, but it added a good mystery to my first playthrough, and I later appreciated how well it recapped the first two games. Day 9: Favorite World Timeless River was a GENIUS world choice. Harking back to the days of old Disney cartoons, bringing back the characters’ original appearances and designs, a fun storyline. And the music?! It’s such a fun world to play, albeit short. Day 10: Favorite Dream Eater I didn’t enjoy Dream Drop Distance as much as other games in the series because of the Flowmotion mechanic, but I did like all of the Dream Eaters and their designs. But the Electricorn is my favorite because it’s the rarest one I ever got in my 3DS playthroigh, and the only one I made sure to have in my party again when I replayed the HD version. In celebration of the release of Kingdom Hearts III, I’m doing a lil thing (mostly for myself) to highlight some of my favorite things about the series, from enemies to moments to music. Day 13: Favorite heartless. It would definitely have to be the Shadow. The Heartless that started it all. Gotta stick with your basics. It’s the first Heartless that Sora encounters on his journey and at one point you can even play as one.
