heey so i have a question to ask about your 13v familiar system

so you in your familiar post you've said that yellow and black are perfectly acceptable colors for a familiar to have, along with stripes also being a valid pattern

so my question is that, canonically, would it be possible to have a familiar who just looks like a bee on first glance before you turn around and you just hear a really deep and gravelly voice telling you to "get out" like that beluga whale post

While there are some animals that are more common/easier to make as familiars, I think a bee would be possible!

This is the cover art for a comic book I’m working on, introducing the two main characters and teasing some of the setting they’ll travel through. Set in a fantasy world of my own design, it’s the story of two very different people with opposing world views who are forced together by circumstance. I was reading the thirteenth valley(great comic btw) and I was wondering what is cottus? What species are they? Also what pronouns do they use ???

Cottus is a sorcerer/faniliar! It’s been a while since I’ve explained this so bare with me for a sec:

Familiars in the 13v world are created by sorcerers (pretty much anyone that can do extensive magic) and are usually made to fit a certain “base” or animals. So you could make owl familiars, cat familiars, dog familiars (like Eve), etc. but typically only animals. This is done by having all the ingredients mixed together to make a familiar + the DNA of whatever you want the base to be.

Cottus’ mom, however, wanted a family so she used the same familiar formula but with a sorcerer base. It’s pretty much thought to be near impossible, so Cottus is pretty much the only one. Also! To answer the second half of the question he goes by he/him

Aaand a little Eve redesign because she was kinda in the same realm of constant “not-sure-i-like-the-design” that Dimitri was in except she got a little bit more of a make over. Switched her color scheme to mainly blue; before with familiars in the 13v it was just one half their body white/blank and the other half whatever color but I figured getting rid of the blank side would give for more varied color schemes (like Patterson). Tbh now she has a strong Blue’s Clues feel going on and I love it. I also changed some body details, particularly her eyes. Idk her old eyes matched Cottus’ but I think that was the issue? They just didn’t work well with her design and I thought more simpler dot eyes would work better. And, besides all of that, I think I finally figured out how she fits into the group! You may have noticed in the comics she’s just kinda there, it’s a lot harder to figure out what exactly to do with a dog character than it looks. Decided it would be best for her to have a “job”/role. Basically now she was made by Penelope when Cottus is still pretty young in order for Penelope to get different supplies/ingredients without leaving Cottus by himself. That’s why she has teleportation powers and can recognize and find pretty much anything Penelope needs for her potions. Other orders though don’t really register with her. Sorry for the info dump, just kinda happy I kinda figured what to do with Eve!
