This is a #flashbackfriday❤️ to #2016. In November 2016, @lorimcneeartist and I shared a suite at the W Hotel in LA 🏨 while we attended a Twitter #140conf hosted by @jeffkenipulver. Lori, 🎨@adamleipzig 🎬 and I 📝 formed a panel to discuss brand building for creatives. It was a rare chance to meet social media friends and hear TEDx-style talks 💬 and panel discussions. 🎤 Adam had to cancel, but it didn’t stop the three of us from meeting up one evening. Adam works in the film industry, 🎭 and had produced a documentary called A Plastic Ocean. 🎞️ I hadn’t seen it, but I watched it when I got back to Seattle and have to say it really affected me. Have you seen it? 🌊Five years later I still think about it! In fact, I began buying more aluminum containers ♻️ instead of plastic bottles, but tonight, as I cut away the plastic film enclosing a case of LaCroix, I realized even when you think you’re doing something good there are built-in problems. 🙄 Despite what we’re told, #1 and #2 plastic bottles and jugs meet the standard for plastic recycling 🤔 and the rest will likely end up in a landfill, the incinerator 🔥 or add to the 150 metric tons of plastic currently polluting our oceans. 🐋🐢🐟 What to do? Have you changed any of your habits to help the environment? 🌎🌍🌏 . . . . The week has been a blur.
