The indomitable @godbodyrocket featuring at @busboysandpoets #14thAndV with the brilliantly talented Padawan Khan on musical accompaniment. Rocket(zilla) inspires me everytime she performs. She brings a combination of fierce lyricism, deeply cerebral poetry and sublime singing which, particularly when married to Padawan's marvelous musicianship, makes for an indelible experience. When introducing her, I called Rocket "the second coming of Lauryn Hill" just to give the audience some context, but she truly is the first coming of herself. I got paid to host and left feeling like I should have paid to see them rock! I wish I had some video, but my phone was full and overheating. Rocket and Padawan deserve to do what they do on much bigger stages. If that is indeed something that they want, I fully support them in the pursuit of such. (at Busboys and Poets)
