Is google listening?

I’m sure you’ve asked yourself the exact same question. I can’t keep track of the amount of times I have heard friends and family sharing these stories : “I was talking to a friend about his inflatable pool frog and you won’t believe it! Shortly after I got a popup on google to buy a plastic pool frog, Crazy.” People are paranoid about their privacy. I think there is a good chance that some people relate these negative privacy experiences directly with the brand that was advertised. In fact this could ruin a consumers opinion on a brand and instead of attracting them the advertisement pushes them away. In reality I don’t see a bright future for big data targeted advertising. Unless the advertisements become so dystopian that it knows exactly what the consumer wants next but in that case we’re all fucked anyway.
