Sometimes I think about how the impala Dean drove in heaven had the old Kansas plates, because that was the car Dean drove when he picked Sam up from school. And I realize that we all scream about Sam and Dean being in their pilot clothes in the finale, but in a way Baby was wearing her pilot "clothes" too :')
Sometimes I think about how Dean never called Sam 'Sammy' in that barn. And for all his initial protests against the nickname, we know it's something that means a lot to Sam.
"He's the only one who gets to call me that"
So, imagine Sam spending all his remaining years, alone, and in the darkest days and the not so dark days and days when he came the closest to being okay, all he wanted was to hear Dean call him 'Sammy'.
"It's okay, Sammy"
Or
"It's gonna be alright, Sammy"
Or
"Sammy, don't you dare ride the brakes"
... and Sam would never hear that. He remembered it. But it was never enough. There were no voice messages, no sound of Dean's voice saying his name the way only he could.
Imagine how complete, finally fucking whole he would have felt when he joined Dean in heaven and Dean said "Hiya, Sammy".
Because Dean knew what his brother needed to hear. He knew what he needed to see. To feel.
