book appreciation
When I first got into Malec/ShadowHunters I was informed of CC’s background and whatnot (I want to keep this post positive).
But I was interested in Malec of all forms so I bought The Bane Chronicles. I barely glanced at What Really Happened in Peru, The Runaway Queen, Vampires, Scones and Edmund Herondale, and The Midnight Heir, because aside from Magnus, I didn’t care for any of the other characters involved.
I skimmed through The Rise of the Hotel Dumort, Saving Raphael Santiago, and Fall of the Hotel Dumort, because those characters I knew from the show, but still didn’t care that much about them.
I read The Last Stand of the New York Institute a couple of times.
I’ve lost track how many times I’ve read What To Buy The Shadowhunter Who Has Everything, The Course of True Love (and First Dates) and The Voicemail of Magnus Bane. Give me Malec and I’m a happy girl.
Last year, I bought Red Scrolls of Magic and was pleasantly surprised to find that I had trouble putting the book down. I’ve read it about five, maybe six times.
I’m looking forward to getting Lost Book of the White in September. I haven’t preordered it yet, I’m waiting to see how low it will get. I hate hardcover books, but I don’t want to wait for the paperbook edition. It’s still early but I’m sure by August I’ll have it preordered.
I’ve read Born to Endless Night and The Land I Lost, because MALEC!!!
I bought the three graphic novels.
But it wasn’t until I started following @my-archerboy and @khaleesiofalicante when I saw the books in a different light. There isn’t enough Malec for me to buy the original books, but I can appreciate them. Until I started following these two lovely ladies, I thought all the book fans were a bit off, but I see, as in all fandoms, a few bad apples shouldn’t be a mark against the whole.
I still have issues with CC, and the extreme books stans, but will make sure all my rants are tagged. If I post something that needs a stronger worded tag please let me know.
