Happy Birthday, Ratchet & Clank

8 years ago I decided to look up this video game series I saw pictures for in a Toys R Us magazine. I liked the characters appearances and wanted to see what it was about.

The series was called Ratchet & Clank, which is exactly what I looked up when I got to YouTube. First thing that came up, trailers for A Crack in Time. I watched them, having no idea what anything was about, but they piqued my interest. So I started watching the next thing that came up, a walkthrough of the entire game. I didn't know who the characters were, what the story was about, that there even was a real story, but I loved what I saw. I enjoyed the look of the gameplay, the cutscenes and the funny and interesting characters along the way. I loved the story and was so fascinated by all of it. I was shocked at the twist by the end and found I had just been introduced to something that would be a big part of my life forever. Cue finding RatchetGalaxy, spending hours on there just looking at post after post, loving the fanart, going to DeviantART and finding more fanart there, watching silly videos and watching the rest of the series as well. I even wrote my own (terrible) fan fiction!

8 years ago, I fell in love with what was the first video game series that wasn't licensed or a Petz game. That same series has influenced me to this day, with my writing, my own characters, and the things I create. It influenced me as gamer, and influenced me as a person.

In 2015, I finally got a PS3, and began collecting the games and finally playing them. My first was Into the Nexus, and it felt amazing to finally play the games I loved so much. I still remember how exciting it was to finally be in control of Ratchet, instead of watching somebody else play. I still feel devoted to the games and they really have helped shape me into who I am and have done great things for me as a person.

It makes me happy and sad to watch people celebrating the anniversaries of these games, watching them get old and me getting older with them. I still play them to this day, in fact I'm marathoning the series right now and have just beaten Up Your Arsenal.

I love this series and its fanbase, and I'm so glad to have found it. Some of my happiest years have been spent with these games.

Thank you Ratchet & Clank, for being one of the biggest influences and inspirations of my life! I hope for good things to be in your future!
