Episode 7 of Citrus literally opens with Yuzu dreaming about fucking Mei like jeez you started the series off seemingly heterosexual as heck but now you’re the biggest disaster lesbian in fiction.
From the looks of a photo Yuzu has on her phone, that amusement park date with herself, Mei, Harumin and Drills happened off camera, which is a damn shame.
Yuzu does ask Mei what the kiss meant, and Mei said it meant nothing, so that’s that conundrum solved.
Anyway though, the bulk of this episode is about Matsuri, who was introduced at the very end of the last episode. In this episode, she pops into town and wanders around looking for Yuzu, before accidentally coming across Yuzu and Harumin in the arcade. The three fuck around and Matsuri quickly learns that Yuzu is in love with Mei. Matsuri also makes Yuzu aware of her part-time job, sending dirty old men masturbation pics. Thankfully, they’re not actually images of herself, so while it’s kinda illegal, it’s not distribution of child pornography. Yuzu’s mad either way though. They go to karaoke and Harumin needs to leave early because sibling said so. Matsuri starts questioning Yuzu about Mei, and asks Yuzu if she’s in love with anybody. Yuzu’s response is effectively “yep, aren’t you?” to which Matsuri is like “Yuzu-onee-chan, daisuke!” and then Matsuri almost kisses Yuzu non-consensually but Mei saves the day by being gay and phoning Yuzu to ask about the shopping. Yuzu finally decides that she needs to go home so she takes Matsuri to wherever she needs to go first, but Matsuri actually sees Mei about to cross the street, so quickly kisses Yuzu passionately in hopes of marking her territory I suppose. Yuzu didn’t see Mei though.
At home, Mei’s being a lot more awkward and actually attempting conversation with Yuzu, before approaching Yuzu from behind and putting her hand up Yuzu’s shirt. Yuzu’s washing the dishes though so quickly rejects her advances. Awkward shit galore. But the point is that Mei actually seems jealous now, despite how she was denying loving Yuzu before. Drama galore.
Back at school later, and Matsuri actually popped up in the building and made her presence very clear on purpose before asking Yuzu to go on a date later. Yuzu kind of just agrees to get her to leave, and Mei pops up and is all “you’re trespassing man get the heck out” and on her way out Matsuri kicks a sign over and then calls the school to tell them she saw someone kick that sign over. Real dick move. She ends off by saying a by-the-rules seito kaichou is too boring for Yuzu.
Good episode, pretty steamy, Matsuri’s really cute but damn if she doesn’t scare me.
Preview is more of Matsuri being a bit scary. She tells Yuzu about how she’s loved her for a long time and we see Matsuri and Yuzu alone at like a store or something. Where it gets tense though is we see Mei and Matsuri alone in a car park and Matsuri says “Please don’t touch my sister with your dirty hands anymore.” Which is exciting. What will Mei do? Like, if this anime throws some actual fisticuffs at us at one point, I won’t be surprised. There’s lots of romantic drama and I gotta say I’m super invested in it.
