I haven’t posted much this week as I’m still re-working this beautiful silk lace over tulle gown from the 1930s. I would be no good on #thegreatbritishsewingbee Working with silk tulle, chiffon and charmeuse for the lining panels, has been a challenging combination! It makes me really appreciate what the contestants working against the clock achieve. I am trying to retain the 1930s feel but make the garment wearable today. I am working with only the strong and clean elements of the fabric. As with many silk gowns worn close to the body, this had some damage across the back of the shoulders and the underarm area. The lace had damage in places too.
