Late 1940s lookbook for Gloria Ofelia Morales, the prospective heiress of the next generation, for her teenage years. A girl with a flair for the elegant, Gloria likes the fuller skirts that characterize the shift from postwar fashion approaching the economic boom of the 50s. As a toddler, Gloria dealt with wartime rationing and the loss of her father, Héctor, and has been raised by her mother, Alexandrea, with her older half-brother Salvador, in Los Angeles. Gloria's traits are Outgoing and Materialistic.

There's a wonderful video out there about the myths and misconceptions, one of those being that actresses and actors were taught to speak this way and that it was purely an accent for showbiz only. Katherine Hepburn is a great example.

Anyway, full disclosure here that the only way I could have made these voices for my characters was via text to speech models through an app online, I scoured the Prelinger Archives online for audio clips and videos to get ideas as well as the on-the-nose descriptions like, "30s female with husky voice, femme fatale, film noir, mysterious, heavy Transatlantic accent." There were some big flops and some big wins in my opinion, which ultimately led me to doing this little project which had been a brainchild of mine for about 3 months now.

My heart is so happy after listening to hours and hours of both real and emulated classic hollywood sounding voices.

Alexandrea Cole Morales: 1940s Lookbook

A later 1940s lookbook for Alexandrea Cole Morales in her mid-adulthood years. By the end of the decade, Alexandrea has achieved some success as a Hollywood actress. Widowed during World War II, she has found a second chance at love and began dating her fellow actor, Vito Ferraro. She is the parent of two children, teenage Salvador and preteen Gloria. In contrast to the wartime years, Alexandrea now wears fuller skirts and longer dresses, especially for formal events. (I haven't been able to feature all of Alexandrea's many looks in-game yet but hopefully will showcase them more as the decade nears a close!)

Salvador Morales: 1940s Lookbook

Mid-to-late (circa 1947) lookbook for Salvador Leo Morales as a young teenager. The elder of Alexandrea Cole Morales' two children, Sal is a young man of many interests who is discovering himself and his place in the world while attending high school in Los Angeles. He mostly wears shorts and cropped pants due to his age and the warm LA weather, and likes neutral, versatile colors. Sal's traits are Creative and Loves the Outdoors.

Childhood lookbook for Gloria Ofelia Morales, the second child and youngest of Alexandrea Cole and the recently deceased Héctor Morales. More outgoing than her older brother Sal, Gloria easily makes friends and enjoys playing outside with them. The Second World War ended shortly before Gloria entered elementary school, and as such her fashions are feminine yet still practical. Gloria has the Outgoing trait.

Alexandrea Cole Morales: 1940s Lookbook

A wartime (circa 1943) lookbook for Alexandrea Cole Morales. Alexandrea is an aspiring actress who moved to Los Angeles to get her start in Hollywood at the beginning of the decade. After an unexpected pregnancy, she married Héctor Morales and the two moved into a small apartment together, where they raised their two children, Salvador and Gloria. Currently, Héctor is serving in the Army in Europe, and Alexandrea balances her duties as a mother with her appearances in film newsreels. Her traits are Romantic, Clumsy, and Creative.
