🗞️ Dahmer, Adam Walsh, and judicial execution.

📋 Jeffrey Dahmer was suspected of abducting and murdering a 6-year-old boy named Adam Walsh during his brief residence in Miami. This "occurred" after he was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army due to his alcoholism and chose to live in Miami.

Dahmer denied committing any act against the boy, stating that he would never hurt a small child since his interest was strictly in men who were "of legal age to drink and go to bars." He also denied being a pedophile.

However, shortly after denying the murder, he asked the detective if he could just confess to the crime anyway in order to receive the death penalty. He said he would "welcome the death penalty" and that it would be "fine" to him. Here is the following conversation:

Detective: "And like I said that's why we are here and you know i had to ask you right out if you had anything to do with the kidnapping and the murder of Adam Walsh."

Dahmer: "Nothing... nothing."

Detective: "One of the things that did impress me last week when we were talking was your openness and honesty about this, you remember we've talked about this and then I'd ask you and i shared this with [redacted] if you would have done that, would you tell us and you said "absolutely" and then i said "why?" and you had a good reason, it's like you said..."

Dahmer: "No secret, there's no point in trying to hide it anymore, you know."

Detective: "The devil's advocate, i mean, white shirts, those people that we always have to answer to... they said "well he's afraid of the death penalty" Florida has the death penalty."

Dahmer: "I would welcome the death penalty.

Detective: "I know. We talked a little about that last week."

Dahmer: "In fact i, uh... if that would get me the death penalty I'd- I'd admit to it, you know, you think it would? I'll be fine, that'll be fine with me."

Detective: "No, we don't want you to..."

Dahmer: "I don't want to go on rotting away in this place."

Detective: "We want..."

Dahmer: "I'd be more than happy to get over it like that."

📋 Jeffrey Dahmer's time in the army apparently wasn't as good as people think. Jeffrey Dahmer served in the U.S. Army from January 1979 to March 1981. He trained as a combat medic at Fort Sam Houston in Texas, and was stationed with the 2nd Battalion, 68th Armored Regiment in Baumholder, West Germany. He was ultimately honorably discharged due to his severe alcoholism and repeated insubordination.

Dahmer would listen to the radio on a high volume and refuse to turn it off; drink so much he couldn't stand up to his feet and deny orders given by higher rank soldiers and officers. "I'm not gonna fucking do it." is something Dahmer said to an officer during his time in the Army. Things got so serious several men turned against Dahmer and beat him up, leaving him covered in his own blood and suffering ear pains years later. “Beginning Friday afternoon he would drink, pass out, wake up and start again,” said Dahmer's barrack roommate. “He’d be in his own little world”.

After being discharged, the U.S army proceeded to give Dahmer a ticket to go to the United States and find a place he wanted to go. He didn't want to face his family after being discharged so early and didn't want to explain the reason why he was discharged from the army. He then chose Miami, Florida, finding the warm weather welcoming to him. He brought a suitcase with all his belongings: his civilian clothes, his army discharge papers, and threw away his army clothing. "Didn't want anything to do with the greens" he stated.

🗞 Dahmer's fanclub: a few illustrations.

📋 The Dahmer Fan Club was created in 1977 during Derf Backderf's junior year at Revere High School. It was started by a small inner circle of friends, including Backderf. The group formed because they became completely fascinated by Jeffrey Dahmer’s bizarre behavior in the school hallways. Dahmer used to fake violent epileptic fits, mock spastic movements, and pretend to have cerebral palsy. They created the club to egg him on, cheer him on, and treat his weird stunts like a joke. Backderf acted as the club's "Minister of Propaganda," drawing Dahmer into school newspaper cartoons, theater posters, and election flyers.

"The yearbook cover (above) was meant to be my "masterpiece" for Revere High School, playing on the "Minutemen" theme despite the area's lack of Revolutionary War history. This is my rendition of the iconic Spirit of '76, featuring a spazzing Dahmer as the drummer on the left. However, the yearbook advisor and editor recognized Dahmer in the sketch and rejected the cover, and the finished pen & ink drawing is now lost; only this sketch survives."— Derf Backderf. 🗞

Mike is directly below them and I am below Mike, dead center. Neal is in the lower right. Kent, Mike, Neal and I were the four principle members. As the self-proclaimed Minister of Propaganda of the Dahmer Fan Club, I slipped Dahmer into dozens of drawings: cartoons in the school paper, theater posters, student council election flyers, sports pep posters, etc. Most of these alas, did not survive. But at one time there was indeed a massive football banner featuring Jeffrey Dahmer! It just doesn't get any more surreal than that." — Derf Backderf. 🗞
