16/17 years ago I had a crush on my brother’s friend and was told, by my brother, that under no circumstances would I ever be able to date one of his friends.

2 months ago my brother got married, aforementioned friend was my brother’s groomsman.

6 weeks ago I was panicking over whether or not I should message his friend after being passed his number.

3 days ago he asked me to be his girlfriend.

Today I came home to a surprise bouquet of flowers waiting for me.

I am honestly the most content I have been in a decade. Funny how life works out 🥰

Skyrgámur arrives tonight! The eighth brother of the Yule Lads!

Today the Yule Lads are best known for giving children treats. Icelandic kids put a shoe in the window for the Yule Lad to leave a present. If you have behaved you can expect a small toy or a sweet: If you have misbehaved the Yule Lad will leave a potato!

In earlier times, however, the Yule Lads didn't leave gifts: They stole things, primarily the most valuable property of any farmer in the pre-industrial agrarian society: food. Skyr Gobbler not only stole the skyr, he howled ang groaned as he gobbled up more than his stomach could accommodate!
