For about a year over the course of May 2017- July 2018, I did a thing. I recorded a video each day, put it in an app (One Second Every Day) and chose one second of the video to be my highlight.

Now, the resulting mashup is far from professional quality. I missed many days; I filmed with my phone in portrait mode sometimes and landscape mode other times; there are two clips in there that are me trying to take a video and actually just dropping my phone.

But this video is something I love going back to! It gives me such a clear picture of what my life looked like for that year, messy rooms and dorms and work. There are so many snippets that include people I love laughing and smiling. There are videos of concerts and sunsets.

There are videos from walks that I had to take every day and whatever tv show I was watching when I realized that I hadn’t taken my video for the day. There are pieces from my whole life, even the messy, ugly, and boring parts.

Anyway, this is a long-winded way to say that I’m going to start this habit back up in 2020. It’s something that I probably won’t post about again until the end of the year when I have a new video to post.

Boire le thé dans la salle de bain toute propre après la douche, ne pas le connaître mais s’envoyer des grimaces à l’autre bout de la classe, surveiller la croissance d’une plante grasse, l’apparition d’un coquelicot, mettre tous ses vêtements préférés ensemble, les balades avant midi, les promesses d’après-minuit, les aveux à contre-coups, “bébé serre-moi fort”, s’inventer une vie auprès d”une inconnue, improviser une battle de danse parce que le sol est si glissant, “1000° dans la soirée, personne peut me stopper”, quand il se souvient de vos filouteries, quand le temps file dans la soirée et qu’après chaque pause clope il se rapproche un peu plus de toi, le ciel bleu de Janvier, le journal intime vidéo, les étoiles pour s’endormir.
