Camp McCarran 11/2/81
On my way out of Fiend Territory, I stopped by Camp McCarran to check in with the news. Although what I did helped relieve pressure on one side of the Strip, the NCR has a bucketload of problems on the inside. Talking to Boone's old squad and Major Morales whose husband's body they left for the birds, it seems the NCR even fails to take care of their own. I've got no love for them but for now, my help could give them more opportunities to fix what some of what they're doing wrong.
First off, they've captured a bona fide centurion of Caesar's Legion! As an 'outside contractor,' Lieutenant Boyd was more than happy to let me have a turn at interrogation, and I was more than happy to provide. The centurion told me that there was something wrong with Caesar, that he's been suffering from great headaches and is diminishing in his ability to lead the legion.
To add to that, the NCR has a spy on their hands. Someone had been sneaking into the control tower to steal supplies, and somehow troop movements are getting to the enemy. All it took was a bit of waiting and I caught the mole red-handed as he was setting up to blow up the monorail.
But most interesting of all was the mission Dr. Hildern of the OSI sent me on. He spoke up a vault in the mountains west of here that had lush gardens blooming from its entrance. It's almost too good to be true. I had heard rumors of a similar sanctuary back east and figured something like this could prove invaluable to my father's research. I should check this out.
Tony gave his friendship to Brad and called him “Iceman” and Brad found Tony’s “maturity, dedication, and toughness” remarkable and brought him on as ATL even though he wasn’t Recon.
Fallout-tober 2021
#4: The Vigilant
Highway 95 sat adjacent to Novac - a long strip of ancient blacktop, baking in the sun. It was also one of the town’s major arteries.
Through it came caravans bearing goods and travelers bearing caps - both of which the town desperately needed. Sometimes a robot or two. The highway brought a lot of good to Novac, no matter what No-Bark thought.
But it brought a lot of bad, too. Raiders. Fiends. Legion.
None of them ever made it within a quarter-mile. Not even if they approached under cover of night.
Because Dinky the T-Rex held more than just teeth in his smile.
Sometimes, if you craned your neck and hid your eyes from the sun with your hands and squinted real hard, you could almost make out a red beret through the gaps in his chompers.
And if you were wearing a red skirt and football pads, it’d be the last thing you never saw.

Lt Gorobets - Bi and proud!
Sgt Bitter-Root - Took a long time to figure out due to his childhood trauma, was only when he got to talking with Major Dhatri and Ten of Spades that he figured out he was a gay man.
Corporal Sterling - Gay trans man.
Corporal Betsy - Stone Butch Lesbian! She’s a lesbian in canon and I think theres a lot of signs pointing to her being stone butch. I think she has a really weird relationship to gender, and her trauma made it hard to figure out. She also dealt with a lot of internalised homophobia after her assault. Ten helped her figure out she’s nb, but doesnt really have the words to describe exactly what her gender is. Despite being open and proud of being a lesbian, it has been a complex journey for her (sorry I project onto betsy way too much, but I love her)
Ten of Spades - Nb bi trans man. I think he’s very confident in his identity. He really wants to help Betsy out and aside from telling her she should get medical help, he’s had a lot of conversations with her about gender and identity. Ten feels grateful to Betsy for all she’s taught him, and so in return helps her with her trauma (yes i hc these two as best friends outside of just being partners)
Bonus:
Craig Boone: cishet (love him but hes cishet)
Manny Vargas: Gay (i think this is backed up by canon? idk if you can flirt with him as a woman though)
