Chester gently pokes him with a fork as he continues to prepare dinner like it's nothing. "This is because you forgot to feed the cats again", he explains and merrily continues the poking.

did he. . actually forget to feed the cats ? gavin vividly remembers waking up , groggily going about his morning ritual before all the five babies started screaming at his feet . he dismissed them with an ounce of well — deserved attention ; it was his husband's turn to feed them , yes ? — but he found out that it's not 'round lunchtime , when chester asked in that gentle voice of his : " did you remember to feed the cats this morning , gavin ? " . .it's neither the last nor the first time our detective forgot , so hours later. . here he is : stuck , standing next to chester as he pokes him with. . with a fork . he eyes the other from a side , an urge to take 'n throw the fork away so strong he almost caves , but how could he. . when his dear husband's such an angel ?

" be a good guy and remind me earlier next time . i don't wanna look like a fuckin' prick in front of my babies . " reed replies & there's a hint of humor strapped behind his words . damn. . he really needs to remember next time .

Chief doesn’t have the tim to really visit the Garden as much as he should. The place was beautiful and wonderful, filled with such a BRIGHT and vibrant life that Chief could hardly believe it. Although, he doesn’t know what he wants to do when he’s here. They’re normally so kind and peaceful; most of the kids here spend a lot of their time playing with the flowers and making CROWNS out of them.

Chief is sitting with a small group of them when Andrew approaches. 

“Hey!” Chief greets him, crown after gifted crown of flowers piled into his lap. He held them carefully while the kids ran off to find certain BLOOMS to finish off their creations. Andrew looks amused as he stares down at him, corners of his lips pulling up into one of the GENTLEST smiles he’s ever seen in his life. “Y’need something-?”

Mid-sentence, Andrew produces an Angel Trumpet from behind him, tucking the flower into the mop that was Chief’s hair. “Thought you’d need this.” Andrew replies, standing straight and wandering off. Chief stays where he is, hand raising slowly to touch at the soft petals.

And he smiles.
