I whine a lot about greenwalls but yknow. I actually really love my job. I love our coworkers and our dynamic, I love the diversity of the work, I love how many people I've gotten to help. Today we worked extra hard to clean the bathrooms and break room and then we spent all day doing the women's razor reset. I really actually enjoyed it? It felt super productive and even though there's a lot we don't know still, I'm finally comfortable with my job and what we do and where things go. This is the longest weve stayed at a job and maybe we'll stay here a super long time
Me: *is having a rough day*
Period: cry over your cat who died months ago.
Me: but I need to do homework
Period: multitasking 🙂
Me: finally got that done
Period: be kinda rude to someone on the Internet and stare at your nails for 10 minutes.
Me: why?
Period: eat another slice of pizza and sit on the floor.
Me: okay.
The Menstrual Cup Debacle
Now to the reason I just now made this blog. This week was the first period in which I tried using a menstrual cup. I figured it would be easier and less painful and all that jazz.
I was wrong. Menstrual cups are great for many women, for a lot of reasons that I won’t get into here. I have just discovered that they are not so good for me and thay I am a huge dumbass.
I tried press on nails for the first time last night. Love them. Amazing. Great. Pretty.
What was NOT a good idea is doing that when I am putting myself in the predicament of having to remover something from deep inside my very sensitive vagina 🙃
So... the first time sucked. Yeah it sucked. In my frustration, I read something online about wiggling the stem from side to side. So, as I sat very upset in my bathtub, I tried it. And (eventually) out it popped! I was relieved, it was actually pretty cool. I knew there was a pretty steep learning curve to these guys and the fact that I had nails on was making it 100% harder. I popped the cup back in and went to bed.
Fast forward 12 hours to when I got up and prepared to do the same thing with slightly less difficulty. Lmao. I’m a dumbass. One of my nails popped off when I was putting my sheet in place last night, so I figured I’d use that finger to grip the stem and do the same this as last night.
It absolutely did not work. No matter how much I wiggles and pulled, I couldn’t get it. After 15 minutes of angry crying, I found another forum with tips on how to do it. It mentioned sitting on your haunches and strongly advised against pushing it out. I followed one of those things. I sat on my haunches on my bathtub and kept grasping at the stem. I found that pushing was the only way I was getting any progress so I just kept doing that until I basically had it out.
During this horrifying process, I realized something. Menstrual cups are a really bad idea for girls with narrow hips. I have incredibly narrow hips, which, aside from all the other pain and suffering they have caused me, has made the opening to my vagina really realllly tight.
This means that getting two fingers up ther with enough room to maneuver the cup out is basically impossible.
So like... I’m going to throw the cups away, right?
No actually. I’m gonna try this ONE more time next month at home when I don’t have nails on and see how it goes. If I have the same problem, bye bye cups and back to nasty pads and deeply uncomfortable tampons.
I am not happy with my body :) 🙃
Thanks for coming to my Ted Talk.
