Next one with oomf, this is a short that over the course of its runtime explores the idea of everyone having a "world" inside of them, and in the case of this I suppose moment in time, a boy manages to discover and understand a girl's world, at which point the two manage to find and share a bond. I think it's interesting enough to watch and does its dramatic beats fairly well although I feel like the core ideas could've been explored a little bit more. It didn't need to be too much longer per se, and I think it would've been easily overbearing if they pushed it just a little bit too far. As it stands this short spells out its themes more than the other Yoshiura's other works I've watched with Salix today and yet it was a harder one to decipher somehow, the mechanics are too specific for the themes to be explored in greater detail, one of those things. I liked watching it but huh.

Still on shit with oomf @yurisorcerer and this was a curious watch, immediately after Pale Cocoon it's clear that some of the directorial tricks were an interest of the guy at the time and I know he'd go on to make Time of Eve and obviously way later Sing A Bit of Harmony so there's some interest in robotics as well. It's always interesting seeing a person's habits and interests like this. But this didn't do too much for me, it was neat and I like the sense of different conversations but yk.

I am... stilled, having just watched this. A friend planned to watch it so I watched it with oomf @yurisorcerer and we were in silence the entire time. Just a case of a fairly simple narrative and themes even if they're slightly obfuscated, ultimately about the importance of remembering and archiving the human experience and whatnot. But it's wrapped up in such a particular directorial style, full of camera pivots and 3D environments and negative space and subdued colours, it invites you to take it all in and it kind of overwhelms you with it. Or something. I don't know I don't feel I'm doing a good job translating the emotional experience of watching this to actual prose. But I did in fact fuck with it like crazy and I feel like I could rate it higher on a rewatch. Also I like its technology, I believe e-ink was an early technology at this point anyway but the screens depicted in this (of which most surfaces within a cubicle are screen) remind me of e-ink displays but just like, if they were kinda the whole thing. I don't know. I probably need to rewatch this and try write a post again if I actually want to get my feelings across well but this'll have to do.

I spent so many years thinking “I don’t understand, I’m doing everything right, why can’t I manifest xyz?” And I was confused because I had a lot of success manifesting some things - “smaller” things.

But if I’m honest, the more I’ve looked at it the last couple years, I actually feel immediate discomfort when I even just imagine having the “big” things I want, and that’s probably the entire issue. That’s why we have to “feel it real” - so that it feels so organic and natural, there’s no discomfort or disbelief. It’s as if you already have it.
