20 July Plot / Valkyrie

Adam was a German lawyer who was one of the conspirators in the 20 July plot.

He was involved in the resistance against the Nazis and Hitler. He opposed them from the very beginning.

He was with Claus von Stauffenberg and other conspirators in the 20 July plot in 1944. If succeeded he was to be appointed Secretary of the State in the Foreign Office and would lead negotiations with the western allies.

In travelled to China, Washington DC, Germany and Europe, to obtain support for the resistance. He returned to Germany and became an insider to gain information to plan the plot.

The 20 July plot failed and he was arrested within days and was found guilty. He was hanged on 26 August 1944. His wife was imprisoned and his children were taken and adopted out to Nazi families, the children were returned in 1945.

The Bendlerblock is one of Berlin's key sites in terms of 20th-century German history. It was here, on 20 July 1944, that Colonel Graf von Stauffenberg attempted to overthrow the Nazi dictatorship. That same evening, he and fellow conspirators were executed in the inner courtyard.

20 July 1944: The 20 July Plot fails to assassinate Hitler.

OOO MOTHERFUCKERS, IT'S 20 JULY!

So TODAY, a bunch of very attractive dudes set about to kill Hitler, because now was about the time when everybody realized that shit was going down and maybe they shouldn't be following the insane Austrian with a bad haircut.

They wanted to kill him by creating a bomb and putting it in a briefcase and then setting it off with Hitler and a bunch of other senior officers inside. What could go wrong?

So a bunch of shit went down and they actually tried to kill him on 15 July through the same means but Hitler like fucking left the room at the last minute before the bomb could go off which ruined it.

God damn it Hitler.

Okay so on the 20th they were in East Prussia in Hitler's "Wolf's Lair" and Operation Valkyrie was in effect yo!!

Claus von Stauffenberg was in the conference room with the motherfucking briefcase bomb and received a 'phone call' so he could leave the room. He put the briefcase down and left.

Then, Colonel Heinz Brandt, seeing a random briefcase sitting around, pushed it with his foot against the table leg to get it out of the way. Whatever, right? Just taking precaution. Don't want anyone to trip.

Well the bomb went off and the FUCKING TABLE LEG

It shielded the blast and absorbed most of the impact and as a result, only 3 officers died, including Mr. Polite Officer who pushed the briefcase against the table and lost his own leg.

So after that there was a hell of a lot of confusion and more shit went down that involved a failed coup, and a lot of suicides, and eventually everybody involved just like dying.

And then Hitler continued to live for another 11 months and shit just got like a lot worse for Germany.

All because of a table leg.
