#JackedKirby - Transitioning.... 💥💥💥 Jack was always known for being on the cutting edge when he was creating his comic masterpieces.... he wasn’t afraid to buck tradition and do things his own way. This was especially true later in his career, like in the 2001: A Space Odyssey series he created at Marvel in 76-77. 💥💥💥 In a series that sees Jack use various narratives, insane grids and futuristic splash pages unlike anything else ever seen before... but one of the coolest things he does in shifting through time... he often transitions through time from panel to panel!!! 💥💥💥 Here are two examples, one from #Issue2 of the series (Pic 1, January of 1976) and one from #Issue4 of the series (Pic 2, from March of 1977). In both of these sets of panels Kirby goes from ancient to futuristic... from the Stone Age to the Space Age! We see a woman wearing a bone helmet and eating next to a fire, then the same woman is in a space suit in outer space!!! We see the rudimentary wooden wheel of a cart, which transitions to a wheel shaped space ship traveling across the cosmos.... it a great story telling device, but also allows Jack this ability to jump forward and backward in time in the same story. Not your average kiddie book here... genius!!!! 💥💥💥 #JackKirby #Kirby #KingKirby #2001 #2001aspaceodyssey #2001aspaceodysseycomicbook #Comic #Comics #ComicBook #ComicBooks #Transitions #Marvel #MarvelComics #IGComics #ComicsIfIG https://www.instagram.com/p/BziMtX7BECV/?igshid=1jyrvnr8cuzvj
