Once again, im not up to date at all, would you mind elaborating on what happened? :O

BASICALLY, in a fj*rester discord, a handful of people regularly mocked and said some nasty shit about a few artists on twitter bc they... didn’t like either the artist’s headcanons, art style, or both, and some of the artists also experienced months of horrific harassment about said headcanons. they also said some transphobic things that erased a canon gender identity, some homophobic things doing the same for one of the few gay characters in the show, and some weird kinda racist shit as well.

i’ve stopped checking the shitty people’s blogs, but last i saw one of em made an apology for some stuff but excuses for others, one hasn’t at all, and another seemed to be doubling down on all the nasty shit they said and making excuses for all of it.

here’s the entire google doc of screenshots. some of those involved are, if not actively big name fans, nearing that level on tumblr, so you might recognize em. obviously, CW for all of what i mentioned above in that link.

the fandom at large is understandably pissed. i am, frankly, unsurprised bc homophobia and transphobia are everywhere, and as a gay trans man i’ve learned to basically always prepare for this eventuality. and racism is so baked into quite literally everything that it crops up no matter what. maybe this’ll make people, at the least, stop doing all of this shit in a public discord, but... who knows. it’s gross and tiring and no fandom is ever exempt from it. the positive-presenting ones just hide it better, or have slightly fewer instances of it.
