Merlin (2008‑2012): A Fresh Arthurian Spin, but the Guinevere Over‑The‑Top
In general, the series Merlin (2008–2012) isn’t bad: it offers a unique take on the Arthurian cycle, but a black‑skinned Guinevere is, in my opinion, over the top. Moreover, she was demeaned— in one version she was Princess Cornwall, but here she’s a maid. That would be forgivable if it were made by Americans, but here it’s the Brits. I appreciate at least that they didn’t “hang all the dogs” – unlike other adaptations I’ve seen.n.
