Kenny Burrell’s Blue Lights Vol.1 Classic Records 200 gram reissue. Featuring Burrell on guitar, with horn help from Tina Brooks, Junior Cook (tenor sax), Louis Smith (trumpet), and either Duke Jordan or Bobby Timmons on piano and Sam Jones on bass and Art Blakey on drums. A true (and somewhat rare) Blue Note jam session. With all the praise today going to Music Matters and the new Tone Poet series of Blue Note reissues it’s easy to sleep on these Classic Records ones done in the early To mid 2000’s and mastered by Bernie Grundman are well worth seeking out. Sonically closer to what RVG issued than the more “this-is-what’s-on-the-master-tape” sounds of the Music Matters or Tone Poet, they are thick, flat, and quiet. The music jumps out. You’ll have to search for these as they are long OOP, but well worth the effort. Not sure how pricing rates in comparison to the MM or TP reissues, but can’t imagine they’re more expensive. They make an excellent alternative to the MM and TP. Very highly recommended. #lp #jazz #music #classicrecords #200gram #album #albumcoverart #andywarhol #analog #vinyl #vinylrecord #vinylrecords #record #recordcollector #recordcollection #audio #highend #audiophiles #audiophilevinyl #audiophilerecords #audiophilepressing #audiophileentertainment https://www.instagram.com/p/B1MKQW1p7CI/?igshid=kwwqe2jmqch2
