Rode on a motorcycle! Terrifying and exhilarating all at the same time!
Moved into a house that has no upstairs level, lol.
2: Did you keep your new year’s resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I didn’t set any resolutions for 2012 because 2011 had just been such an awesome year! 2012, however, sucked horribly. I suppose that means it’s been a “learning” year and that I should set resolutions based on what I have learned from these experiences
3: Did anyone close to you give birth?
Heather! That was a surprise to hear! :)
4: Did anyone close to you die?
Well.. I hope nobody died!
5: What countries did you visit?
None. This was a “stay-in-Canada” year ;)
6: What would you like to have in 2013 that you lacked in 2012?
Being able to go on date nights every once in a while, and just getting the occasional break to clear my head!
7: What dates from 2012 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
The month of April - our little guy getting to celebrate his first birthday with his cousin also turning one! And this was the month that we moved into our new place!!
8: What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Doing something for me: I took up horseback riding! It has not only made me sooo happy, but has given me more confidence too. My last ride of 2012 saw me getting back on Duke - this particular horse I had been avoiding since my very painful first fall onto my ribcage. The ride went very well - possibly my smoothest of the whole year! I went into that session scared and upset and came out beaming with confidence ..and relief, haha. :)
9: What was your biggest failure?
10: Did you suffer illness or injury?
I fell off a horse and landed on my ribs, getting the wind knocked outta me! My ribs were bruised, my wrist was sprained, and my shoulder took the brunt of my fall.. Thankfully the pain had dissipated in time for my next lesson, haha! :)
A couple weeks later I was leading a horse ..right directly onto my foot. It’s still bruised today from 1000 pounds of horse-hoof slowly crushing it. :p
11: What was the best thing you bought?
Anything to do with horse riding lessons - including the lessons themselves! :D
12: Whose behaviour merited celebration?
I’ll say my own. I usually succumb to dramatic bursts of emotion when things go arwy with the people in my life - especially when nobody’s talking to me and telling me anything! - but this time around I made healthier choices. I contacted all my ‘besties’ (d’awww) and one-on-one we discussed what was on my mind, which helped calm me down and feel better.
13: Whose behaviour made you appalled?
Just.. the drama that went down with both family and friends was not only random and out of nowhere, but also completely unnecessary. I felt like I was back in grade school again. It was not a nice feeling.
14: Where did most of your money go?
The money from my account went mostly to horseback riding lessons and nursery school tuition!
15: What did you get really, really, really excited about?
Getting back into horseback riding again!
I got tickets to the Blush event for this coming March, and managed to seduce two of my girl friends into coming with me, hehehe…
16: What song will always remind you of 2012?
Gangnam Style by Psy! Hahaha, omg, awesome.
17: Compared to this time last year, are you: (a) happier or sadder? (b) thinner or fatter? (c) richer or poorer?
Sadder (depression came back)
Thinner (finally broke out of my plateau!
Poorer.. oh so very much poorer.
18: What do you wish you’d done more of?
Going out and having fun as a family with my hubby and boys. Just relaxing and enjoying life.
19: What do you wish you’d done less of?
Investing money into the garage workshop. (Even though it looks amaaazing, and has been such a learning experience for hubby.)
Sitting in front of the tv.
20: How did you spend Christmas?
In the morning hubby and I just relaxed and opened presents with our boys. Then I picked up my mum, and my MIL and her hubby joined us for lunch. I felt that part of the day was an awkward disastrous mess just because I didn’t know what the plan for that was, and then realizing apparently I was in charge! Then for dinner it was just us and my mum, I cooked the whole meal by myself, and it was a pretty relaxing night!
21: Did you fall in love in 2012?
I fell more in love with my husband, who is working hard to get out of his own bubble to become a more nurturing husband and interactive dad. He has always had a difficult time controlling how and where his focus goes..and, not surprisingly, is at his best when it’s his own interests/hobbies/projects. I just find it nice to see him taking what I’ve said to him on board and really trying. :)
22: What was your favorite TV program?
23: Do you hate anyone now that you didn’t hate this time last year?
Nah, I don’t have the energy to invest into that sort of thing. lol
24: What was the best book you read?
I’ve only read bits and pieces of random books this year.. Probably the poems by Sylvia Plath.
25: What was your greatest musical discovery?
Psy’s Gangnam style. I’m sorry, you guys, I loved that song. It’s like the Macarena of today. ;)
26: What did you want and get?
Winter riding gear! Boots to keep my feet from turning into ice blocks!! And fleece breeches.
27: What did you want and not get?
An iPhone 5 *weeps* Just not in the cards for this year until we are in a better financial position. #firstworldproblems
28: What was your favourite film of this year?
It’s from 2011, but I only got around to seeing it this month! Melancholia. Easily one of my all-time favourites!!
29: What one thing made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
Again: money, and date nights for the grownups once in a while would have been nice too! We were stuck in the house a lot this past year just because we didn’t want to drag the kids around and battle them in public, lol.
30: How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2012?
I think I looked more 80’s in the summer - short shorts, tight jeans, neon colours; baggy, off the shoulder tops. In the cooler months I have become “Granny Chic” in my vintage-style sweaters. I even have a pair of mint-green jeggings! ;)
My friends. I must continue to remember to reach out and talk to those I know will be there to listen and help me feel better, instead of following my instinct which is to (unintentionally) act out over-dramatically.
32: Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
33: What political issue stirred you the most?
Super-excited and relieved that Barak Obama remains president of the United States!
I’m sad I didn’t get to see my dad this Christmas - he had bought his plane tickets and everything! And one of my close friends who is going through some major adjustments this year.
35: Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2012.
“Do not let the behaviour of others destroy your inner peace.”
36: Quote a song lyric that sums up your year.
“Sit down in our Thinking Chair and think…think…think!
Cause when we use our mind, take a step at a time
We can do anything…that we wanna do!”
... Yup. :p
