As part of a team of fixers hired to handle a gay scandal in Buckingham Palace, Louis expects Prince Harry to be a lot of things—most notably a royally spoilt brat. Never mind that the very same Prince Harry used to star in quite a number of Louis' teenage fantasies.
this is a very loose scandal au and i started watching scandal just so i would understand it more lmao. i liked that harry's a prince. (i mean, that's that not much of an au but you know what i mean.)
4. I Like the Way You Bend for Me, Baby by TheCellarDoor
Uni AU, in which Harry is a part-time yoga instructor with rock hard nipples and skin-tight leggings, and Louis most definitely isn’t charmed.
ok but srsly i have never laughed (ACTUAL laughter) so hard while reading a fic than i did during their first date scene at the park omg. this was really enjoyable.
It's the summer of 1891, and Bruges has significantly more angry swans and accidental Irish revolutionaries than Harry was anticipating being faced with on his summer holiday.
if you love beautifully written literature then you'll love this fic. (and anything by acavall tbh.) it's just really gorgeous in every way.
It's different, and Louis knows that, because Harry's got so much riding on this - a career and a future and his whole life. There's talk of him going first overall in the draft, of entering the NFL after only two years in college, of going to New York or Seattle or Green Bay, and Louis wants to be there for him, wants to support him and help him make decisions, but he also kind of wants to pin him to the bed and cry and scream, What about me what about me what about me?
(au. Harry's the star quarterback and Louis is about to graduate. It's a heartbreak waiting to happen.)
this fic is only 16k but seriously it's so well-written that it makes it seem like it's an 100k fic...know what i mean? typically shorter fics will feel unresolved in some way but this one was just...omg. i still think about it a lot. i loved it and i loved that harry was the athlete.

AU in which the boys still make music. Louis is the concertmaster of the London Symphony Orchestra, Harry is the New! and Exciting! interim conductor/ex-cello prodigy who "has made Mozart cool again" according to Esquire Magazine (Louis hates him immediately, which is definitely why he internet stalked him in his dark bedroom late at night that one time), and Niall is the best. Zayn and Liam are around too.
Don't hum Bolero.
this fic owns my ass SO hard. i cannot go an hour of the day without thinking about cellist/conductor!harry and concertmaster!louis. i felt like i needed a cigarette after i read the first smut scene - i don't even smoke O_o . and especially for anyone with a classical music background...i pray for you. (every time i hear bolero now, my heart shatters a little bit.)

Or: Wherein Louis and Harry seem to be a bit fated, even though the odds of their lives entangling should have been zero, Niall is probably the kindest bastard son of an Irish nobleman to ever live, Zayn’s there for Louis, and Liam is somebody important.
this fic is seriously so well-written and creative. it satisfies my new love of 19th century au's (thanks acavall) as well as my obsession with jack the ripper.
