Confession 😂

In lack of Carmilla content recently I started to read Carmilla fanfics 🙈 I marked so many of them for later (thx to @nootvanlis) and a few days ago (exactly​ 2 days) I started to read Absolution on AO3 and OMG 😱😱😱 I read one chapter and then I start from beginning. Now I’m on third chapter and I do not want to finish it ever. It’s so good, it’s so well written, THIS FIC DESERVE SOME AWARD  🔝  Everyone shoud read this

Hollstein: Watching Crappy TV

“Every little thing that you watch on television seems to just get worse and worse, doesn’t it?” Carmilla asks as she drops down beside of Laura onto the couch in their dorm room.

“Oh, I wasn’t even paying attention to it. It’s just on for the noise. You can change it if you want to.” Laura says dismissively.

“I’ll leave it and see what kind of noise you’re hearing.” Carmilla laughs, she isn’t paying attention either, only playing with Laura’s hair in an attempt to distract her. It works and with a huff she sets her laptop aside and settles in beside of her vampiric girlfriend.

“You win. What’s on?” Laura asks as though this were a major inconvenience.

“Housewives of something or other. They all seem to yell at one another a lot. For being so very rich you would think that they would be off doing something to do make themselves happy.” Carmilla laughs.

“They’re awful and petty and mean.” Laura agrees.

“It’s so bad that it’s kind of funny.” Carmilla adds.

“They want to pray on our natural love of drama to reel us in, to make us keep watching it. We really shouldn’t give in.” Laura thinks aloud.

Neither one of them gets up to change the channel. Instead they discuss how awful the entire premise of the show is and enjoy one another’s company.

This was actually really hard, considering almost nothing could beat what they’ve already said to each other in-universe, but I tried.  Thanks for the prompt!

“I’m scared.”

Stuck beneath the floorboards, Carmilla picked up the sounds of talking coming from above.  Mattie and computer boy had fallen asleep, as they tended to do when they finally fed after a long stretch stuck underground.  Carmilla listened closely as Laura continued talking.

“I feel like everyone always expects me to know what to do when really, I have no idea what I’m doing.  Since day one, with Betty, I didn’t know what was going on.  I definitely didn’t think my roommate had been kidnapped by an ancient cult of vampires that’s for sure.  And now it’s even bigger than we ever could have imagined and I’m…well I’m still just me.”

Carmilla could hear everything going on in the house, but no matter how much she filtered it all she still couldn’t hear anyone responding.  And yet Laura kept talking.

“Every day, everything I’ve ever believed about the way the world works is questioned, and I honestly don’t know what to do with that.  I know you tried to teach me better.  But you’ve been gone so long, Mom.”

Carmilla winced as Laura’s voice began to crack.

“Kirsch won’t leave Danny alone, the evil forces on campus won’t leave Perry alone, LaFontaine won’t leave science alone and as a result they ended up putting a computer program of a consciousness into the dead body of Carmilla’s dead vampire brother, and then there’s the problem of Mattie and Vordenburg and the non-human Inquisition on campus and I…I can’t help but think about how much of it is my fault.  Since the beginning all I’ve ever wanted to do was help.  But now everyone I’ve tried to help is worse off than when we started.  And then there’s Carmilla.”

Carmilla knew that if her heart still pumped, it would have skipped a beat.

“Mom, I haven’t missed anyone like this since we lost you.  You took a piece of me with you, because you were and always will be a part of me.  And Carmilla, she’s taken a piece too.  Which scares me.  Because she’s right here, with me, all the time.  And yet that piece is still missing.  And it hurts Mom.  I remember every part of me that she’s touched and my skin burns and aches and longs for her.”

No please, please somebody make this stop, Carmilla thought to herself, suddenly feeling more claustrophobic than ever in the enclosed space.

“But I know it’s not enough, and I think she knows it too.  I think…I think I’m finally beginning to understand what she said about knowing love doesn’t mean the same thing to everyone.  But it’s still the saddest thing I’ve ever heard.  Because it makes me think, will I ever get that piece of myself back?”

what multi-chap fics are you keeping up with right now?

Sorry this is a couple hours late! My Mac decided it didn’t want to connect to the wifi anymore, and I didn’t want to do it on mobile because I wouldn’t be able to link.

Okay I read like a lot of fic, and pretty much keep an eye on the Hollstein tag on AO3 and at least have a look at everything that’s uploaded there.

For easiness I’m gonna stick to my favourite AU multi-chapters that are still updating at the moment...

‘I Could Never Rescue You’ by makethingsfunny (operativelawsons​). It’s a Last Five Years AU but you don’t need to know the musical to follow the fic because it’s very much it’s own story. Putting this one first because I think it’s seriously underrated, and is probably one of the better written fics in the fandom (also the alternating timelines are engaging and interesting). 

‘Inbox’ by alterocentrist (alterocentrist). Only started this one recently but I’m so weak for Laura and Carmilla being assholes to each other IRL while getting close online. 

‘Ripped Pages (The Story of Us)’ by yourelikethegalaxy. Childhood Sweethearts AU and it’s just so incredibly sweet. I just want to tuck the two in bed and hide them from the world. I have a feeling the angst will br dropped soon though..

‘Just Stay With Me’ by do_hickey. I don’t usually enjoy second person, but I’ve been following this one for a while and really like it.

‘I'll Keep You Safe If You Keep Me Wild’ by TheRegalist. Bounty Hunter AU. I love country Laura and Gigi is the biggest Hollstein shipper. Last chapter ended on the BIGGEST cliffhanger though!

‘Flatline’ by Silver85. Paramedic AU with Laura as a journalist. Incredibly sweet Hollstein, but also I just want to protect Carmilla from all of the things in this and give her a big hug.

‘the lines we cast will bring us home.’ by lordvoldyfarts. There’s only been a prologue and two chapters so far but I’m already in so deep. Both Laura and Carmilla are totally infuriating, but I live for the Kirsch/Carmilla brotp, and I’m kinda ZS trash too so this fic hits all my needs.

There’s other fics I was reading that haven’t been updated in a long while, and probably others that I’ve forgotten about (and a few of my favs just finished!) but these are the ones I’m kinda keeping up with at the moment.
