Soca - Best of 2016

It’s that time again, time for the traditional “best of the year” lists. Lets start with soca. In 2016 soca got more of my attention especially during the latter half of the year thanks to my trips to Notting Hill Carnival in August and Miami Broward Carnival in October. In Finland, I kept playing new soca tunes on our radio show and tried to include some of them into my afrobeats sets every now and then. By far, the “easiest” tune to play was “Oh Yay” by Olatunji. Cloud 5′s “No Behavior” was a big anthem in a different way. And yes, "No Behavior” and many other songs came out in 2015, but because they were marketed as 2016 tunes and were played throughout the year they qualify to be on the list. I didn’t include any tunes that are now being marketed as 2017 tunes except “Rock And Come In” which in fact was released just before Trinidad Carnival.
