That's me with this series. When I read the Morganville Vampires I'm home. And with MIDNIGHT BITES? My gosh, it was SO DAMN GOOD to be back in Morganville, Texas. This collection of short stories set throughout the series was PERFECTION. I missed my babies, the characters I know and who are so real than I can so easily picture them walking down the street. I missed the shenanigans and adventures and dangers of Morganville, the never-ending threats the Glass House gang has to put up with--and how they always fight back. And I missed everyone's favorite vampire-bunny-slipper wearing, mad scientist vampire. Morganville may be a town in the middle of nowhere where humans and vampires coexist (reluctantly and not quite peacefully), and it may be a series that has some issues and isn't perfect. But I don't care, because for me it's perfect. It's home. And sixteen books? Never, never enough. /// I'm almost done with this photo series and then I can post whatever the fuck I want THANK GOSH. Expect more ivy and less wood, since the logs I WAS using are now all firewood and ash and dust. (And I love that newly discovered ivy I REALLY DO. Maybe all my photos will just be ivy and leaves.) Also, photographing Kindles is such a pain in the ass. (My copy of MB is out on loan.) I first became a fan of Ashley Elston when I read and lost sleep for her also thrilling Witness Protection Program debut THE RULES FOR DISAPPEARING years ago. Since the end of that duology (please write more Ethan Landry thanks) I'd been waiting for MORE ASHLEY ELSTON, and THIS IS OUR STORY fails to disappoint. This is the story of Grant Perkins and the River Point Boys--and Kate's won't-take-no-for-an-answer, Nancy-Drew determination to figure out which of Grant's besties killed him. It had thrills and chills and, in true Ashley Elston fashion, SWOONS, along with the best text conversations ever. Although I must warn you: THIS IS OUR STORY will turn you into a potato bug that's repeatedly yelling "SHUT UP NO" while stuck on its back. Just so you know. My favorites of 2016 don't really have numbers--except for being in the top--but if they did this would definitely be number two of the 103 books I read last year. It's just SO GOOD, and for once--FOR ONCE--ladies and gentlemen, I AM NOT A BLACK SHEEP. I read plenty of contemporary romance, but never adult, and now I want to read ALL the adult contemp romance. This book is PERFECTION, and it will literally break your face because of how much it will make you smile. It's about two office nemeses who hate each other but don't and the BANTER and CHEMISTRY and JOSH AND LUCY I just CANNOT. Sigh. I LOVE THIS BOOK. /// I haven't posted anything IN A WEEK--whoopsie daisies--because, well, ISSUES. I had an IDEA for this photo, but the first two shoots bombed, so I tried this for the third shoot (I just REALLY wanted a strawberry in the picture okay) and while I'm EH about it I just need to post something and I. give. up. Plus I've had issues with weather and taking photos before it's dark and this photo series has sucked all the inspiration out of me and BLAH. Hopefully I can get back in the groove this week, finish my favs of 2016, and gain back some inspiration.
