Comet’s ready for her first clutch!
2017 Fall/Winter breeding The "Legacy" Litter COI 2% As most know how much I wanted the Flash x Dream breeding to work out, it was not meant to happen. I've been debating long and hard for some time about who I wanted to breed to Lightning. I lost almost 2 years because of a misdiagnosis with Lightning's cardic. She will be 6 at the end of this year and will also be the only one from the Bartleby x Geneva to carry on that pedigree match up. So I've been spending lots of time looking at males, reading pedigrees, playing worse case scenario...well.. Martine Burton and I are excited to announce Lightning's intended will be the vary accomplished Freedom (DC Starswift Let Freedom Ring CGCA SC FCH RA THDX)! I'm very excited about the potential of this litter. Some very fast and accomplished multi venue dogs in this pedigree included both parents. After three clutches of duds laid everywhere you could imagine in her tub (between sheets of paper towel, water bowl, even her food bowl. yes, food bowl. as in she rolled the eggs around and coated them in repashy calcium plus), I gave Comet two lay boxes with different substrates and one was to her liking! She laid one dud and one fertile egg! She was paired to Alien recently so can’t wait to see what they produce!
After returning home this weekend, I noticed Flare had prolapsed and immediately contacted the vet, who got me in right away. We both though the tissue was necrotic and needed to be amputated, but thankfully it was just dried fecal matter and the hemipenes were very red and healthy still! Little man wasn’t too happy about his antibiotic shots but got to keep both of his hemipenes. He will receive shots every 72 hours for a week, and then his sutures will be removed. So thankful for our wonderful vet and that this wasn’t something more serious
Also please ignore the messy food dish! I tried to keep his travel container moist for the ride, and he spilled it and got his calcium and worms wet, turning it orange. He was only housed in this for the ride there and back
Comet laid two eggs today, both are freshly laid so I'll check in later for embryos but so far it seems that they're infertile.
After a VERY rough start to the breeding season, Solar has pulled through with our first mating! Titania should be expecting eggs soon!
