Plan for a couple days
Frustrating day today, and not super productive last couple weeks. Have done a bunch of painting for my undeads, so that's been fun at least, that's felt productive, while not actually being, you know, productive in any meaningful sense. Tomorrow's a day off, and my habit on those recently has been to squander them. Maybe not, tomorrow, though?
I'm thinking maybe a schedule, instead of just a to-do list. I need some structure, the kind I used to get from classes. Going to try for 2 hour chunks, not sure if that's too much or too little, will reassess friday. As long as I spend at least one hout doing the thing, that's fine.
Ok, so here's what I'm aiming for for the rest of this week:
Today: * study time at 8pm, I'm feeling calculus * bed between 9 and 10 * lights out at 10
Thursday: * alarm for 6 * 7am: breakfast * 8am: study session 1 * 10am: commission painting * 12pm: lunch break, dishes * 2pm: free parking * 4pm: study session 2 * 6pm: dinner, dishes * after dinner, room mate should be home. Can maybe paint some, but not much else, and maybe not even that. * 9pm bed, lights out by 10 * misc tasks during short breaks: laundry
Friday * alarm for 6 * walk to work by 6:30 (take breakfast with) * 7am: check messages * 8am: filing * 10am confirm, pull sat, mon * 11am: misc tasks * 12pm: walk home, lunch, dishes * 2pm: free parking * 4pm: study session * 6pm dinner, dishes * friday social gathering * 9pm bed time * 10pm lights out I'll aim for that, see how it goes. See if 2 hour segments are too short or too long. Looking at it, they might be too long, at least for some things, because there's stuff I would have wanted to fit into thus schedule, like cleaning, painting of my own models, video games, other creative projects, that's just not there. Maybe I can split that stuff up between different days.
As a general thing, I want to try to fit one study session every day, and extra ones on my mid week days off, tuesday & thursday. Right now I'm picturing these as mostly working through old math & programming textbooks, but once I feel less rusty on those, well, we'll see.
Edit: I just got done entering all this junk into my phone calendar with little beepy reminders. When I was in college, I used to joke about wishing I had a little talking turtle that would ride around on my shoulder constantly telling me what to do so I never had to make decisions or manage my own time, because I was obviously not capable of doing that shit for myself. Maybe my phone can be the turtle. Maybe I won't just ignore its nagging beeps. Maybe I won't sit down to study like it told me to and waste 2 hours on youtube instead. Maybe.
Edit: so far so good. Was up a bit later than intended wednesday due to room mate home earlier than expected, and just difficulty getting to sleep, and consequently a bit slow to start this morning, but so far things are going alright. went back to the c++ book I was working on a while back, and reviewed up to where I left off back then. ready to work on some painting.
