WOW, Bang Chan / WOW, Jisung
“Wow, she’s hot, hot, hot.”
Changbin never wanted to hear your voice and that song coming from the same direction at the same time. In fact, he had gone through great lengths to prevent that from happening, so the only reason for this to be happening right here, right now, must be because--
“LEE YONGBOK FELIX!”
Your and the Aussie’s head snap up upon hearing your boyfriend slam open the door to the small dance studio.
“Heeeey Hyunnnng, we were just--”
“What are you showing her, Felix?!!”
“Just one of your pre-debut songs,” the boy squeaks in his high-pitched voice. “They’re really good.” Felix offers him a nervous smile and a thumbs up, hoping to kiss up his way out of this.
“And of all the songs you chose ‘WOW’? You know I’ve been trying to hide it!” Changbin fumes.
“Which I find rude. You shouldn’t try to keep things from your girlfriend,” you tease.
Changbin flinches at your comment, despite it being a joke. He tries very hard to keep your relationship a positive experience for you, especially since he has a very busy idol schedule that keeps him away.
“There’s a reason for that,” he mumbles. “I’m sure you can tell why I did it after hearing those lyrics.”
You hum, “Mmmnnh. Can’t find one. Why? What’s wrong with the lyrics?”
He searches your face to find traces of you pulling his leg. A part of him looked for your validation; another part believes nothing good can be said about something like this. “They’re so cringey! You seriously don’t find anything wrong with it?”
“I wouldn’t be considering using it for the show if I didn’t like it.”
“Wait, a show?”
“Some of the other trainees and I are doing a charity show in two weeks. I’m doing a rap cover, so I asked Felix to help me find some songs since I know you’ll be hiding the good stuff from me,” you explain.
“And you’re considering this song? I’m not letting you use it! It doesn’t fit a girl anyway,” he protests.
Felix cuts in, “Noona rewrote some of the words so it’s more fitting.”
“Rewrote?”
Felix and you exchange a look.
“It’s more like decided to use the song than considering to use it at this point,” you sheepishly laugh.
Changbin falls onto the floor with a groan. “This can’t be happening. This kind of torture shouldn’t be legal.”
“I’m singing your part if that helps.”
He groans again, louder and more painfully, before rolling out of the room. Out of sight out of mind, hopefully.
“It’s next, next Saturday at noon in Daehangno!” you call after him. Turning to Felix, you add, “Do you think he’ll come?”
The boy shrugs. “Probably. It is you who’s performing after all.”
Pre-performance jitters are inevitable no matter how many times you’ve performed. You run the song over and over again with your two teammates while playing the track off your phone until you receive a message.
“Read it!” urges the one singing Jisung’s part.
“Oooh, what does it say?” adds the third member, knowing who the message is probably from.
You turn the phone towards them so you can all read it together.
Binnie <3:
Do well on today! Remember you’re performing my song, so it’d better be good. >:) Jkjk. But seriously though, I know you’ll rock it. I’ll be watching with love!
Your teammates offer a few lighthearted teases about the text as well as a few expressions of jealousy of having such a sweet boyfriend. You can tell the distraction from the jitters encouraged them, but not as much as it encouraged you.
With the message in mind, the three of you own the stage. You all have a lot of fun which radiates to the audience and elicits a good response, especially from Stays who already know of the song.
Changbin forgets all about the cringe when watching you perform. He can tell Chan helped master the track and brought out certain elements to fit your feminine voices, but he’d fight anyone who said the best improvement to the song isn’t your voice.
“That’s my girlfriend,” he whispers excitedly into all his members’ ears. “That’s my girlfriend.”
After the event, you see Changbin waiting for you at the van. You jump into his arms, and he swings you around.
“How was I? How was I?” you ask, looking up (but not really) into his eyes in search for an answer.
“Stunning, of course,” he smiles back at you before pursing his lips into a pout. “You didn’t tell me this was a gag concert.”
You laugh sheepishly again. “I thought you’d be offended if I used your song for something like this.”
“So you do find it cringey!”
“Of course! Who wouldn’t?” You boop his nose with another laugh before running away, knowing he is more than likely to give you a tickle attack after that.
“Y/NNNNNNN!” he calls and chases after you. “Why are you so mean?”
You continue running and laughing while yelling out lines of the song into the wind.
