You saved him, yet the only thing he could identify you with was your silhouette. The moon crowned your head, making your face too dark to distinguish. Or perhaps he was just too drunk at the time to see you. At least he remembered feeling your worry as you called to him to check for consciousness. He remembered feeling tickled as your hair brushed his cheeks when you leaned down to check his pupils. He remembered the soft caress of your touch as you moved him into the recovery position.
He shouldn’t have taken that drink from Minho-- he knew that older male was never up to any good. He shouldn’t have drunk it. That way, he could at least remember the faces at the Christmas party, including yours, and maybe asked you for your name as well.
But he did drink, and the next thing he knew, he was awake in his dorm room with a splitting headache. You were nowhere to be seen, obviously, and his roommate, Changbin, didn’t know who you were either.
“Felix, ‘a girl who looks like an angel under the moon’ isn’t a good enough description for me to help you identify someone,” sighed Changbin. He had lost a game of beer pong the night earlier and was not feeling too well either.
“I need to find her,” Felix said while struggling to get out of bed.
“You’re hungover. Get some more sleep first,” groans Changbin.
Felix ignored the older male and managed to pull on some jeans and grabbed a jacket before stumbling out of the room. However, he just barely makes it to the building’s common room before collapsing onto one of the couches inside. He should have taken an aspirin before going out, but at least there is someone playing a lullaby on the grand piano which seems to have the same calming effect. Thus, he closed his eyes for a second to let the music soothe him.
And eventually lull him to sleep.
Through his hazing eyes, he could see you swaying as your fingers danced across the milky keys. Perhaps there was still some alcohol in his system or perhaps he was just too determined to find you that he began hallucinating the keys flying up and forming a circle around your body.
Like the moon, he thought before fully closing his eyes.
Again, he cursed himself for falling unconscious. You were gone by the time he was awaken by a group of squabbly friends who had just waltzed into the room.
Felix shook his head awake with a hiss. His jacket slipped from his shoulders and he realized someone had taken the outerwear from his hands and draped it over him. He’s even more convinced the girl playing the piano was you now. His heart leapt and he let out a peal of giggles upon realizing you lived in the same dorm as him which earned him a few startled stares from the group that woke him up earlier.
Except doubt presented itself when you were in front of him and he had the chance to talk to you. He had heard the familiar melody echoing through the halls and found his feet automatically walking towards its source. He stopped at the doorway, unable to approach you any further. What was he going to say if he talked to you? What if you weren’t actually the girl at Minho’s party? That would be so embarrassing, and Felix sure wasn’t going to be rude and disturb your playing either. Maybe he could just sit on the chairs next to the piano and wait for you to finish. No, that would be weird too!
He paced back and forth by the door, fighting with his doubt and his timorous self.
You were sitting with your back towards him, unaware of his presence. He could see you tabbed every page of your music with adorable cat post-its to help you turn the pages. At some point, he stopped pacing and just stood there, dumbfounded by your very existence, until he heard you holding out your last note then closing your binder and standing up to leave. Felix quickly jumped behind a potted plant, unable to face you without properly preparing what to say.
Sensing something in the air, you look around the room. Luckily, you didn’t see him, but Felix sure saw you.
And you were everything he imagined.
He loved everything about you, even that mark on your face that he would later learn that you liked to hide with concealer. He could remember the feel your hair grazing his cheek again and imagine your furrowed brows as you looked at him with concern. Maybe he has the courage to talk to you now. Maybe he--
“Excuse me!” he called.
But instead of your voice, he heard the small beeps of a door locking behind you as walked into the living areas. He had spent too long gathering himself together.
Felix looked down at his shoes with a pained smile.
“You’ll talk to her next time. At least you know she’s in this dorm now,” Changbin tried to comfort after Felix shuffled his feet back to his dorm.
“But the holidays are in a week! We won’t be at school for a month. And what if she’s a senior and this is her last semester? Or what if she’s transferring?”
“Felix, calm down,” Changbin urged with a sigh. “You’ll see her again.”
And Changbin was right, but not until almost a week later.
Felix sat by the windowsill with his hands propping up his chin as he stared into the night sky. He was glad his exams were over and that vacation started tomorrow, but disappointed that he never got to see you again. That’s when he heard your fingers pressing on those pearly keys.
Felix rushed out of his room and ran to where you were. The familiar tune urged him to go faster and faster until he was completely out of breath by the time he saw you.
The moon was waning as it shown through the glass windows and into the common hall. But a full moon wasn’t what was beautiful about that night; it was you. There you were again, basking first in silver rays and now in his adoration.
You stopped playing upon hearing heavy breathing behind you. You turned and smiled after recognizing the boy.
Felix’s heart leapt into his throat but he pushed it down.
“A-are you the one at Minho’s Christmas party?” he gasped.
You nodded and all of Felix’s walls came crashing down.
“Thank you,” he breathed. “I could have thrown up and choked to death.”
“It’s only natural to help someone who’s unconscious,” you explained. “I’m Y/N, by the way. It’s great to finally be able to talk to you, Felix.”
He blinked in surprise. “How do you know my name?”
“Everyone knows your name,” you chuckled. “You’re the cutest boy in the building.”
Felix turned beet-red at your words, and you joined him upon realizing how you sounded.
“Would, um, you like to hear me play the piano?” you said to change the subject.
“Y-yes. What is the piece called?”
“‘Luna’,” you replied. “It’s named after the Roman goddess of the moon.”
