Actually if you start watching mha in your first years of exploring anime when you're full of excitement and joy and then take a break at around s6 for at least two years, randomly come back to it after you've experienced your own villain arc, had a few traumatising seasons and continue it from around the middle to the end of s6 where deku has turned into a faceless justice symbol, you have no recollection where all his friends went and all might has turned into an anxious grandpa of sorts, it's peak entertainment. Mind you it's devastating.

so. there are many different interpretations of scar's win but. listen.

pearl dies. scar is distracted by a zombie and doesn't see it happen. he goes to look for her down in the cliffs, and instead of seeing nothing, or seeing grian, he sees pearl standing over her body and the rest of the winners flanking her.

"she's dead scar." grian says, the exhaustion is clear in his voice even if he never opens his mouth. "you won."

"oh," there's a spot for him, it seems, right beside martyn. "really?" he goes to it, hoping that in death he might not be alone, might rekindle the friendship with pearl (and all the other relationships he can't quite remember)

"how'd that happen?" he chuckles, humor one of the only fighting things left in him. "how did the guy with no friends win?"

but then they vanish just as he approaches, leaving him alone.

he must've been seeing things. because. because he didn't have friends and. and....
