Welcoming Our 2020 Summer Interns to Fidelity!
By @fidelityjobs
Beginning this month, Fidelity Investments welcomed nearly 1,000 FIDterns for their virtual summer. Our FIDterns have spent their time so far building connections and growing their networks online. Despite the different look this year, Fidelity is strongly committed to providing the same meaningful career experience as part of the nine-week program. We decided to virtually sit down with our newest FIDterns and ask them a few questions about their experience so far!
Kelsey C.
FidelityJobs: Describe your first week in one word. What is it and why?
Kelsey: Energetic. Full of morning orientations and afternoon planning or connecting with my manager + team, the energy Fidelity has was something I learned quickly. Everyone is energetic and eager to meet new faces, also making sure they never forget to say “don’t hesitate to reach out if you need anything.” This energetic environment has made my virtual experience upbeat, exciting and comfortable!
Ashley J.
FidelityJobs: Name one thing that surprised you this week.
Ashley: One thing that surprised me this week is how much Fidelity cares for its employees. They care about diversity and inclusion, they care about what is going on in the world and how it can affect their employees. To me, that is the type of company I am proud to work with.
Sophie I.
FidelityJobs: What is one thing you are most looking forward to in the intern program?
Sophie: There are many things I am looking forward to this summer as an intern, but if I had to choose one thing it would be building long-lasting relationships. This is my first internship, and the idea of being virtual for the summer made me a bit nervous, but I already feel as though I have made so many connections after just one week! I am eager to get involved within Fidelity to meet even more people and looking forward to a summer I will not forget!
Sean B.
FidelityJobs: Describe your first week in one word. What is it and why?
Sean: Different. I was an intern last summer and it was definitely different not being at the office but I was very happy to see that we could continue our work and stay interactive with the program. It was nice to see all the hard work done by the talent teams to still have a great orientation!
Madeline R.
FidelityJobs: Describe your first week in one word.
Madeline: Supportive: Every person I’ve met or worked with since the first day has welcomed me with open arms and made me feel so comfortable as I start my new role! I was surprised by how expansive the Fidelity business units are, and how everything is so intertwined and collaborative.
Olivia M.
FidelityJobs: Name one thing that surprised you this week.
Olivia: One thing that surprised me this week was the persistent capability of mimicking the “work place” environment online and making sure everyone felt connected. This surprised me in a good way because it goes to show that at Fidelity, although remote, the company strives to build a community of charismatic, hardworking employees.
