Snippet: The three of us stared at each other while Corbie nibbled on his animal cracker. "You overheard Quinn say that you'll grow up and become ... a cat?" I asked. "And I like burgers," Corbie added. He jumped off the RV sofa and ran out the door. Brand pulled out his phone, dialed Quinn, and put the call on speaker. "Aren't you right there? In the grown-up RV?" Quinn said by way of greeting. "Did you tell Corbie he'd grow up and become a cat burglar?" Brand asked. Silence. Then, "I didn't know he heard that. Technically - and these were his words someday, not mine - he only steals from assholes. And he gives the money to charity. Um. I need to run. Bye." As the line disconnected, the three of us stared at each other a little more. No one made a specific judgement, but there was a sort of shared verbal shrug. "We're very complicated parents, aren't we?" Corinne sighed. "The asshole bit won me over," Brand admitted.
