The kid turned to me in the car after her oncologist appointment and said, “Mom, did you ever think I’d be going through this cancer drama?”

That was about a month ago. Two months earlier, she was diagnosed with ovarian cancer after a cyst on her ovary the size of a grapefruit ruptured. Two surgeries later, she is cancer free. She has to be monitored for about 2 years in case the cancer returns.

When her oncologist gave her the news, it was a day of celebration. I was at work when the kid called me with the news.

I’ve never felt as grateful as I do now.
