The thing about capvers isn’t that it was illegal, or the war, or how it ended, it’s that Havers saw the captain in all his ridiculous, odd, eccentric, autistic-coded, oft mocked ways, and fell utterly in love. He looked at him with the biggest heart eyes and adored him for the traits that even the other ghosts saw as the captains greatest faults. What greater love is there than that? For someone to love you for the very thing that everyone else would love you despite.

Havers glaring/sending a look to the other officers when they laughed at the Captain, but gentle when he said, ‘I don’t think the Germans will be here quite yet, sir’

Havers pushing through the crowd when the Captain collapsed, being angry and snapping at Cartwright, but only speaking softly to the Captain.

Even when he could’ve, should’ve (by 1940’s military and societal standards) kept his distance in every sense of the word, Havers was as soft on the Captain as the Captain was on him.

Havers stopped him from confessing so the Captain would be safe from having his reputation dragged through the mud after death. Havers still risked his own reputation by holding the Captain’s hand for comfort, made sure that the last time someone spoke to him, he was not addressed as his rank, just ‘James’.

Ben is genuinely so evil for this expression after Cap makes Havers smile. like why is his face so full of wonder and joy and pride at making Havers happy, why does he look like he's just seen the stars for the first time, why does he look like he's just discovered magic, why does he look like he has come home after years of being away, why Ben, why is this moment so tender WHY WOULD YOU DO THIS TO ME WHY-

THINGS I WANT FROM BBC GHOSTS: THE POSSESSION OF BUTTON HOUSE

Alison and Mike visit the ghosts to catch up with them (at the end of the film?)

Party Conference is held at the hotel, attended by Julian's daughter (Julian has a SLIGHT posthumous change in beliefs after seeing his daughter's speech but not entirely because it's still Julian)

Mia can see Ghosts!!!! Pat and Kitty are her favourite because they play with her (she calls Lady B her grandma one day and she tears up and hesitates to correct her)

Caphavers reunion (I don't know how they'd pull that off) OR Alison tells The Captain about how on her travels, she met a nice ghost called Anthony who also was stationed at Button House and knew of The Captain

The bear stays on the stairs and still scares

A queer couple called Teddy/Theodore and Will/William stay at the hotel. The Captain follows them round for the whole day. IF YOU KNOW, YOU KNOW (PLEASE Ben do it for all the OG Caphavers fans)

The ghosts figure out how to possess the guests, or possibly one of them in particular. Maybe Thomas manages to possess a guy so he can flirt with a girl, like in CBS Ghosts?

References to Horrible Histories ("Ah yes, my good friend Blinkensop. Awful soldier, but a fine fellow in cricket and football", or Pat 'haunting' someone who can see ghosts by shouting "HI, I'M A SHOUTY MAN!")

Cliffhanger that alludes to one of the ghosts being "sucked off" but it's open ended and we never find out which (up to audience interpretation who it is)
