These kids were in in front of a Buddhist temple in Kathmandu playing. I was looking at them and they were smiling at the camera. Then, one got close to me and he ask me for an ice cream, the rest of the kids came and the start to asking for an once cream too. I was happy and I went to the ice cream store with them and bought them what they wanted. I said to my self: I have spent money in useless things for nothing, how I am not going to spend my money in something that is going to cause happiness. They were happy eating their ice cream and they kept playing. That day was one of my best days, not only for that, also was because I was having a lovely walk day in Kathmandu. Lots of memories are coming to my mind in this time, but I guess I need to let the time pass. I am participating in the photography contest posed by the European Commission. What do I am doing a to create better world? Ok basically I am expanding my knowledge, learning new things to bring them in retribution to the people that may need those knowledges. I decide to start learning French and I know that the language will help me a lot specially at some volunteering programs in Africa. I'm using photography to keep showing what is not right and what we need to change, what we need to help. For me is kids. Is not normal to get used to see kids asking for money when the see you for the first time. Is not normal to see them on the streets in bad conditions. My dream is to someday be a good photographer, that good for achieving a job in a big magazine or do something with my art. And for the question that the European Commission posed. What are you doing different this summer to create a better world in 2030? I am going to answer this: I'm using photography to make people more sensitive about "external problems", wake up a sparkle in your heart and make you think, what I am doing to change this reality? I understand that this image can be shocking, and it is. But unfortunately this is real, this happens and I believe that no human has to live like this; specially our children. I am using my experience to make people more sensitive. I have heard comments like: this is not my problem! But actually it is, because is Your world. It should be your problem. I'm showing the real side of situations, this is called inhumanity. I don't think it would be normal someday to walk and see this in the streets. This is not normal and this has to stop. I want to help and this is why I'm sharing the reality. Stop and think in our future. I spent half a year living in India, and there I learned the real value of life, I learned that the world needs me. I don't want to see this. Not in India, not in Colombia, not in any part of the planet. I don't want to offend anyone i just want to make you think more in humanity. This is my answer to the question posed by the European Commission: What are you doing different this summer to create a better world for the year 2030? R/ This summer I decided to open a blog on the web and share stories in my personal Instagram account to inspire people to travel more and get out of their comfort zone. I also decided to meet countries that attracted my attention, such as India, Nepal and Thailand, to embark on the adventure and gain a broader view of the world. What will I do for 2030? I would like to be part of a humanitarian project to help children in vulnerable areas to get ahead, filling them with dreams and hopes. Either in my country, Colombia or in a place where they need my help. Well, I am not limited to one place, I want to give my unconditional support to help the kids. Children are the future of the planet and if we do not give them hope maybe they will feel that they have no place in the world, which is false since we were all born to do great things; And by great I mean to seek our own happiness doing what we like the most. If we do what we are passionate about, we will be achieving a world in peace and full of people who live their true happiness. Let us help by giving strength and motives to the people who need us. As a photographer I like to expose my point of view in front of the situations that I face and share stories that I encounter along the way. I like to teach people what I know and what I have learned over time.
