Kamelot kinda does the same thing and I’m LIVING for this futuristic/post apocalyptic style that symphonic metal is beginning to go down. I really am here for it. Many metal bands love delving into the history and the past however symphonic metal seems to be exploring the future and it’s so interesting.
Speaking of, Delain’s “Apocalypse and Chill” is starting to carry those vibes too!

Honestly, symphonic metal peaked round about 2007-2012. A lot of stuff since has been kinda meh since then for me, which I think is down to bands just not experimenting with their sound (some of the hate Within Temptation got for The Unforgiving didn’t really help), or trying to emulate Tarja-era Nightwish. Resist, however, gives me some hope that the genre may get a “second coming” of sorts, by adding modern elements and fusing them with the symphonic parts. If more bands followed that method of experimentation, I’d be happy.
