EN ESPAÑOL: La linterna roja VOSE
Raise the Red Lantern is a 1991 period drama film directed by Zhang Yimou and starring Gong Li. It is an adaptation by Ni Zhen [zh] of the 1990 novella Raise the Red Lantern (originally Wives and Concubines) by Su Tong. A Chinese-Hong Kong co-production, the film was later adapted into a ballet of the same title by the National Ballet of China, also directed by Zhang. Set during the Warlord Era in the 1920s, the film tells the story of a young woman who becomes the fourth wife of a wealthy man.
It was the fourth of nine collaborations between Zhang and Gong. The film was shot in the Qiao Family Compound near the ancient city of Pingyao, in Shanxi Province.
It is considered an important work in the so-called Fifth Generation movement of Chinese cinema and is one of the most internationally highly-regarded films from mainland China overall.

We’re back with AA the frog hater.
Destroying amphibious iconography feels like a very Derse move, and the Horrorterrors are aligned with that planet...
AA: did you set up the teams TA: still working on it but yeah more or less. TA: we should all be playing soon. TA: and i guess leaving this dimension. TA: that is what happens, right?? AA: yes
AA is the one who unearthed Sburb’s source code, and Sollux seems to defer to her knowledge about what it actually does. His ‘visions’ are only giving him half-truths, distorted by his own psyche, and I don’t think he’s clued in at all. It sounds like the only reason he’s part of this is because AA needed someone who could code.
I’ve spent all of Hivebent keeping an eye out for Skaianet, but they don’t exist here. AA is the one running the show, and she’s doing so alone in a cave. Plus, she’s clearly being manipulated herself.
None of the trolls are in control of this session. No wonder things went so pear-shaped.
TA: so i guess you should be pretty happy when we finally get out of here? AA: i dont know about that TA: oh. TA: will you at least be able two leave the voices behind? AA: i dont know about that either
I think the voices are coming from inside the session, Sollux. AA won’t escape them by following their orders.
AA: im ok with it AA: im ok with a lot of things AA: even our inevitable failure AA: though it will briefly masquerade as victory TA: wow FUCK.
AA has already been briefed on what’s going to go down. She knows what we know - that the trolls will complete their session, but will fall, somehow, at the last hurdle.
And she doesn’t care.
TA: terezi was right, you are such a drag two talk two these days. AA: she was right about a lot of things TA: wow what a mysterious thing two say, i am so intrigued.
I called AA an unwitting pawn, but I think I spoke too soon. When she said she didn’t know what she was doing, what I thought she meant was: ‘I’m choosing to act on my own random whims.’
This is pretty clearly not the case. AA knows about the voices, so she knows these aren’t her whims. She’s perfectly aware that she’s enacting a plan that will end in failure, and she still doesn't hesitate. She’s the most clued-in of all the trolls we’ve seen so far, but she still recklessly presses on, advancing someone else’s agenda, assuming there must be a reason she’s doing this - even though no one’s bothered to explain it it to her.
AA knows she’s a pawn, and is perfectly 0k with it. I think her manipulators have been messing with her head for a long time.
