Let It Snow, Let It Snow, Let It Snow - Recorded At Electric Lady Studios NYC, an album by Liam Payne on Spotify
Liam’s Spotify cover of Let It Snow will be out midnight local time!
Ja ich bin krank, aber dennoch ein Mensch.
Me.
conorleebutler: One of my favourite shots of November! 📸
I brought them here because your Mum needed some support.
Not from her.
Visiting Paris for two days of intensive promotion, Liam Payne met us again to tell us about his long-awaited debut album, LP1.
JustMusic.fr: Your first single "Strip that down" was released in 2017 and you finally unveil your first album "LP1" December 6, 2019. How do you feel and why did you wait so long?
Liam Payne: I'm very excited that the public can finally hear my album! I took time because the singles worked well and are good songs. So I wanted the rest of the disc to be the same level. I received many songs and I really chose the ones that I found the best. We also did many recording sessions to be sure. In the band, we did lots of songs without really taking the time because everything was done quickly and it was not personal. For my first solo album, I wanted to do my best to bring the best of myself to the public.
JustMusic.fr: I want to know everything about this first album...
Liam Payne: All the collaborations on this album are the singles that people already know and there's another one with Cheat Codes for the song "Live Forever". It's a mix of styles that I liked when I was younger like Usher, Justin Timberlake or Chris Brown. I was inspired by these artists that I listened to make my first album.
JustMusic.fr: Indeed, there are many collaborations. Do you miss being in a band?
Liam Payne: A little yes (smile). We had a huge success and the atmosphere around us was amazing! When you are solo, you have to create your own story because you find yourself alone in the studio, for promotion, and on stage. Making songs with other artists makes me feel good and it's always nice to duet (smile).
JustMusic.fr: These artists with whom you collaborated are from different musical worlds so how did you choose them?
Liam Payne: It's true that I like collaborating with different artists and for my first single, I wanted to surprise by choosing Quavo. It was also amazing to work with J Balvin who is #1 on Spotify in many countries. We loved singing together and we became very good friends.
JustMusic.fr: It's an eclectic album with dancing songs, urban tracks and beautiful ballads. What style do you feel closest to? Liam Payne: Yes, I wanted to have a very complete album with several universes. The one that suits me the most is the R'n'B side as the song "Hips Do Not Lie". We also added a little rap because even though I'm not a rapper, I always liked this music.
JustMusic.fr: Your new single "All I Want (For Christmas)" has just been released. Why a song about Christmas?
Liam Payne: There are not a lot of artists coming out with new songs on Christmas, because they do covers. We wanted to try to make a good one and I think we succeeded. It’s not like the others because usually, it's happy. I preferred to approach the theme in a more sad and melancholy tone. The title also gives hope for people to forget their problems.
JustMusic.fr: If I could offer you a gift for Christmas, what would you like?
Liam Payne: What do I want for Christmas (smile)? A dog because everyone wants one for Christmas (laughs). I just want a good time surrounded by my loved ones and have a smile on my face (smile).
JustMusic.fr: A few days ago, you shot a music video. What song is it? Liam Payne: It was for my next single "Live Forever" coming out the same day as the album. This song is very personal because it talks about the life of a friend. We are not invincible, we must always enjoy the people we love and think of them.
JustMusic.fr: Can you tell me a few words about your collaboration with Hugo Boss? The pictures and the clothes are very beautiful. Did you like to be a model and how do you do to have such a perfect body?
Liam Payne: Thanks for those compliments but I can tell you that my body is not perfect (laughs). It was amazing to work with Hugo Boss and it was a dream to be like artists I admire, including Mark Wahlberg. It was nice to do the pictures because the team was very professional. But being naked in front of so many people was a bit scary but they put me at ease very quickly (smile). I have many friends in fashion like Kim Jones and I am often invited to fashion shows. Creating my own line was a pleasure and I loved this experience with Hugo Boss.
JustMusic.fr: How long will you stay in Paris and when will you come back for a concert?
Liam Payne: I'm leaving tonight because this time it was really flash and intense (smile). I'll be back soon probably...
JustMusic.fr: December 11th for the Olympia Awards.
Liam Payne: You're even more aware than me (smile). We will see how my album will be received and we will consider a concert in Paris.
JustMusic.fr: Do you have a message to send to your French fans?
Liam Payne: I wanted to thank them because I met them and I had a great time yesterday during the different promos. I'm really happy to see that I'm still supported here, I hope they'll like the album and they'll have a great Christmas (smile).
JustMusic.fr: Before leaving you, I will let you end in French...
Liam Payne: “Bonjour, je m’appelle Liam, je joue au foot, je joue au basket.” That's all I can say (laughs).
