It’s 2020 and there’s one thing that’s not being discussed thoroughly; performative wokeness and allyship.
The guy who’s preaching about homophobia is the same guy who fetishizes lesbians but is uncomfortable around gay boys.
The girl who’s preaching about homophobia is the same girl who wants a gay guy best friend but is uncomfortable around lesbians.
The girl who’s preaching about feminism is the same girl who’s intimidated and uncomfortable around her confident girlfriends and throws in subtle hints to make them feel insecure.
The person who’s preaching about mental health awareness is the same person who rolls their eyes when their friends tell them about their depression and tell them to “stop playing the victim” and to “count their blessings”.
If you have been unfortunate enough to have one of these people in your life, I hope you find the strength to not allow them to gaslight you into disbelieving your narrative, they do not represent these values and morals and beliefs. They do not embody what a true friend or good ally is like.
