My life saviorrrssss! Thank you for letting me know the title of the song! Now my next quest is to look where I can prolly *cough* download them... But this is much appreciated <3
Anyway, I only have a few episodes left. I can't believe this but will resume tomorrow when I wake up. Gosh, I recommend this animé y'all! You gotta watch it too!
Let me rephrase part of my earlier question lol, when I say the music, I mean the enjoyment of the music itself and the emotions that follow it (for the canon music)
okay see why is the canon music so emotionally charged?
think of tenshi ni fureta yo. if you had NEVER seen k on, and just heard that song, would it create as strong of an emotional impact for you as opposed to knowing the story and intentions behind the song? probably not.
and why is that song so emotionally charged? its because we see how much these characters have grown to love one another. without those bonds that they form throughout the series, up until TNFY, the song would NOT hold as big of a meaning as it does. so the emotions that we feel while we listen to the music are very much dependant on the emotions and journey we take as we watch the girls interact.
I know that these two elements are what make the show what it is and if either was missing, K-On wouldn't be as entertaining, but which do you value more? The five main characters and the interactions between them or the creativity and supposed improvement of the actual music (canon and non-canon) of the show as it goes on?
i defnitely value the interactions and friendships or the cahracters/ the actual characters more.
honestly, even if you took out the music aspect and it was just a show about them just hangning with each other and growing up, i would still love it. with the music as the central element of the show, its more of a common interest and aid that is used to connect them all. see this is where i think k on does an execptional job as a ‘slice of like’ series as opposed to lucky star, which i think is just okay.
i liked lucky star, dont get me wrong, and i could easily and willingly watch and episode and have a good time laughing at the jokes and such. with k on, i can do the same thing as well. however, i think the difference between these SOL series is the development of the characters.
k on does A REALLY GOOD JOB at making well rounded characters, dynamic, multidimensional. obvs you can classify each girl as a certain archetype, but i feel like they go beyond that. with lucky star, i feel like the characters are very one dimensional. now, its not a bad thing necessarily, but what makes k on more memorable than lucky star, and emotionally more charging, is how personal they get.
we see these characters have real insecurities, real doubts, fears etcs. we see them at their highest and in the most spirited moods. and most importantly, we see how the bonds between all the girls adds layers to each other’s characters and how much they have all affected one another and helped each other grow as a person. lucky star, for me, failed to do that.
i do enjoy the music of k on, but in terms of which aspect of the series i like the most? its their bonds. the music, imho, just helps create a more central theme within the series. not the entire plot per se, bc that would def be untrue since like 70% of the time theyre goofing off, but music just helps the show move forward at times.
Did you get inspired to learn an instrument b/c of K-On? Or did you already know how to play something?
ive always kinda be interested in learning an instrument but was never really able to afford one (or lessons since that shit expensive). my best friend plays piano so sometimes she would try to teach me (like i used to be able to play ‘seasons of love’ from RENT) but i never really stuck with anything?
but when i got in college i met a guy who plays an abundance of instruments and we become friends so he started teaching me how to play bass
but yeah my drive to learn an instrment just increased when i watched k on and im really glad i picked up the bass!!
What are your two favorite K On songs? One for the actual musical enjoyment and the other for the emotional impact
musical enjoyment: ohyaou, mata ashita (im a huge sinatra/rat pack fan and this song makes me incredibly happy bc of that)
emotional impact: idk if this counts but U&I ~Yuuhi no Kirei na Ano Oka de~ which is the slowed down, instrumental ver of U&I that plays during episode 20 after the girls’ last school festival and they all cry in the club room about the end coming near. but if you want lke actual song, with singing and intrsuments, tenshi ni fureta yo (surprisingly not bc the last ep, but more bc the seiyuu concert)
