I wonder if Padme would have fallen in love with Anakin if Hux had been there in her youth. Like if he had been an advisor to the queen. The youngest ever. Militant and so on the verge of violence.

oh nooo how dare you now all i can think of is how queen amidala – so wise yet so stubborn – would loathe him at first. they’d be courteous to one another in front of others but privately at each other’s throats. he would recommend drastic foreign affairs measures, expanded military, higher taxes on imports. day after day a new policy would cross her desk for approval and she would rip them apart. 

as they grow older, the hatred bleeds into something softer. hux, as awful as he is, can often be a familiar comfort in times when she feels so alone. he’s the only one who has the gall to speak to her as an equal. as rumors of a separatist uprising start to unsettle her peaceful planet, she learns to appreciate hux’s capacity for strategy, his tact when dealing with the gungans, his dry wit.

they spend more time together. she arranges for dorme to take over sometimes, so hux can be the advisor with a crush on handmaiden padme, spending days off strolling the palace gardens. she learns he appreciates chess, music. he has a cat. he’s not even from naboo, but a planet called arkanis in the outer rim. his mother relocated them when he was a baby – the naboo suns burn his skin. 

they kiss one day, as the suns are setting. 

her term ends. she joins the senate. hux gets promoted to an advisory position under senator palpatine. they grow apart, rarely see each other except at events. he kisses her hand and she wishes he would kiss her elsewhere. they pretend they don’t know each other. 

anakin comes back into her life, with his wide smile and shining adoration – sweet kindness with the shadow of darkness hiding behind it, so unlike another boy she once knew who possessed the opposite. so when he tells her he loves her, she’s inclined to listen.

i’ve already written like 50 aus of this pairing in my head. it’s a sickness. like tiny powerful beautiful successful padme and tall adoring naive bumbling hux. i just. i really need this in my life but there are NO FICS OF IT.

it’s all ace of spade’s fault and how i can’t elaborate on grandma padme’s backstory as much as i want so i started thinking how i might put that in a different story and who would i ship her with and then i thought well if hux were a little older and then it was all downhill from there. 

this is my SEVENTH HETERO SHIP GOD HELP ME WHO AM I.
