Gettysburg Battlefield Half Training Friday - Easy 5 Saturday - Long 10 I've been swapping some workouts around. Easy 5 on Friday morning to make time for getting my niece for our adventure that day (a trip to the Herr's factory, a bookstore, and pizza and cookies for lunch). I loved this cat in the window who was there on my way out and in thd same exact position on my way back. Moved Sunday's 10 to Saturday to run the Pick Your 10 10 miler (there was also a 10k and an apple festival, hence the name). I started to set my watch to long run pace, which is around 11.55 when the race director commented on the hills. So I went with easy pace to avoid discouragement. I finished with a pace of 11.45. So yay me! For most of the race I was behind a guy who was race walking. Seriously impressed with his pace. At one point he totally took off, but I eventually caught back up to him. Around mile 6 I noticed he seemed to keep check to see if I was still behind him. Two or three times I started to pass him, but he would speed up as I started to draw even. So not cool. And I start dreaming about how I will blow past him as we finish. After the last turn around (about mile 7.5) he somehow managed to take up the whole path, blocking me again. Enough. I blew past him at mile 8 and cherished the fact that I finished a full 2 minutes ahead of him. Courtesy, dude. Leapfrog for miles, but don't block me from passing. Rounded out the day at A Brew Story beer fest at Alapocas Run State Park in DE where I found this awesome praying mantis.
