We will look at the 2022 4-corner gods, the luck of the 24 mountains, and the afflictions of Tai Sui, Sui Po, and San Sha.

The four corner gods or guardians change locations every year in a specific order. Two are auspicious and the other 2 are inauspicious guardians. The locations of the 4 corner gods and the 24-mountain (24 directions) luck can be found in traditional Feng Shui calendars each year.

The luck of the 24 directions in 2022

Here is the luck chart for the 2022 year of the Tiger. The unlucky directions cover the whole North and the Southwest 3. That is the direction of Sui Po or Year Breaker.

In 2022, Tai Sui will be located in Northeast 3. This is “small luck” or “a little luck” this year according to this chart. Overall, the Northeast is a lucky direction this year.

Lucky directions include the whole East, Southeast 1 and 2, Northeast 2 and 3, and Northwest 1 and 2.

In a very general way, we say this year (2022, year of the Tiger), the lucky directions include East and West, and the unlucky direction in the North.

The sequence of lucky and unlucky directions in general

The lucky and unlucky directions alternate each year in the following orders. If one year the lucky directions are east-west, the next year it will be south-north. If you are planning a construction, it is better to do it during a lucky year for that direction.

Li Shi and Can Shi are always opposite, and Bo Shi and Zhou Shu are always opposite to each other. Bo Shi and Zhou Shu are auspicious gods and safe for construction, while Can Shi and Li Shi are inauspicious gods, so avoid construction in these 2 corners.

🐒MONKEY Year 2016: Lucky Zodiac Signs (Part 2/2).

The EAST-WEST Axis of any Property (ie, the home locations of 🐓ROOSTER and 🐰RABBIT) will have the best luck in 2016, followed by that for 🐉DRAGON and 🐶DOG along SE1-NW1. In terms of 24 Mountains, there are 4 more Zodiac Signs enjoying either one of two types of “Auspicious” luck next year: “Big Auspicious” luck denoting big windfall or speculative luck, or “Small Auspicious” luck denoting excellent Health and powerful Mentors.

⚀🙈MONKEY (SW3). [and those whose House faces SW3, or, either the Main Door or Bedroom is in SW3 sector.]

The No: 8 PROSPERITY Flying Star occupies the SOUTHWEST sector in 2016, and with the 24 Mountains “Big Auspicious” Star flanking one side, the MONKEY is in for a good year. Afterall, it’s the Monkey’s year and it’s the first Animal in the Year’s BaZi Chart, with its Yang Metal element denoting Wealth and Financial Success in 2016. In addition, the Monkey plays host to the Grand Duke Jupiter (Tai Sui or God of the Year) who brings vital support and “Nobleman” luck to everyone residing in SW3 –PROVIDED he is not faced or confronted head on, or “offended” by renovations in this sector. The only blight is the “Yin House” Star on one side, bringing news of possible serious illness or death in the family, or a drastic loss in self-confidence. ✔NOTE: Do NOT install a moving Yang Water Feature here as this will diminish the strength of the Earth element of the No: 8 Star. Instead, Fire Energy (in the form of bright lights and red furnishings) will stimulate the auspicious Energies. Just remember to avoid excessive noise with no renovations of any kind in order not to activate the Grand Duke’s wrath. Always sit with your back to SW3, or any Southwest Direction (if in doubt), even though Southwest is your good Direction according to your Life Star or Kua number.

⚁ 🐯TIGER (NE3). [and those whose House faces NE3, or, either the Main Door or Bedroom is in NE3 sector.]

The TIGER is in for a roller coaster year with good fortune brought on by the presence of a “Big Auspicious” Star flanking it in the East. However, sitting in a location with the “Sui Po” Star (also known as “Year Breaker”, ie, confronting directly the Grand Duke Jupiter), means there will be some major Hurdles for the Tiger (or anyone entering through or residing in the NORTHEAST 3 sector) to overcome first. This is especially since the dreaded No: 5 YELLOW Flying Star (in NE2) will be sitting just next to the Tiger’s location throughout the year. ✔NOTE: The No: 5 Yellow Star, being of Earth element flying into a sector also of Earth element, is exceptionally strong in 2016. If possible, stay away from this sector. Keep the sector quiet with dim lighting with no renovations (drilling nails into walls, digging up the Floor, etc) as this will activate the negative Energies. Gather together solid metal objects (made of pewter, brass, silver, etc) to place in this sector. Avoid facing Southeast (where the Grand Duke is), even though this is a lucky Direction for your KUA Number.

⚂ 🐍SNAKE (SE3). [and those whose House faces SE2/SE3, or, either the Main Door or Bedroom is in SE2/SE3 sector.]

The SNAKE’s Home Location is visited by the “Robbery Star” giving a reminder to everyone occupying this sector to pay extra attention to Security. With the “3 Killings” flanking one side, there is also the possibility of anyone occupying this sector to feel lethargic, stressed out and ostracised. Fortunately, to mitigate the situation, there is one “Small Auspicious” Star by its side, as well as the presence of the No: 1 VICTORY Flying Star that will occupy the Southeast throughout 2016. ✔NOTE: Place a moving Yang Water Feature here to support the Water element of the No: 1 Star in strengthening the Southeast sector (of Wood element). This will also keep the Robbery Star under control. Use this sector more often, and remember to not turn your back to the South where the “3 Killings” are, as activating it could result in 3 kinds of losses, ie, loss of reputation, money and loved one. The “3 Killings” should be faced directly in a fearless manner, in order to weaken its impact.

⚃ 🐷BOAR (NW3). [and those whose House faces NW2/NW3, or, either the Main Door or Bedroom is in NW2/NW3 sector.]

The lucky BOAR (and those residing in NORTHWEST 2 & 3) has the “Heaven Seal” in 2016 which denotes protection from Heaven. With positive Energies boosted by the “Small Auspicious” Star on one side, it appears that having the Boar sitting next to the “Facing 3 Killings” mountain would be just a minor problem. However, with the presence of the No: 3 HOSTILE Flying Star in the Northwest, there will be the tendency for Patriarchs and Male Leaders to be short-tempered, quarrelsome and irritable throughout the year, but if he is a BOAR, the bouts of temper tantrums (and repercussions) would be mild and short-lived as good sense (brought about by the Heaven Seal) would prevail. ✔NOTE: Do NOT place any Water Feature here that would strengthen the No: 3 Star (of Wood element) and weaken the sector (Metal element). Instead, place lots of solid metal objects and ornaments here to subdue the No: 3 Star. ***************

There are 4 more remaining Zodiac Signs (🐑SHEEP, 🐂OX, 🐴HORSE & 🐀RAT) which will not be blessed by the 24 Mountains Chart with any “Auspicious Star” in 2016. These Zodiac Signs will have a more challenging time, but as always, it is either their Annual Flying Star, intrinsic Element or hidden Mountain Star (or a combination) that will provide the much needed support and relief to turnaround a challenging year into a reasonably good one.

Feng Shui Basics: Direction vs. Location.

In Feng Shui, the correct differentiation between “Direction” and “Location” is important. Direction refers to the “Facing Direction” that one faces or is oriented to, whereas Location refers to the Compass “Sector” or “Palace” that one is located at a certain time. Hence, a person can be located within the Northeast sector of a Property, but is sitting at a desk facing Southeast.

This differentiation is important because in Classical Feng Shui, Direction and Location are used primarily to tap into and to harness the positive Energies in an environment, and using Formulas, an Energy Map or Chi Map (known as Flying Stars Chart) can be drawn up for a Property. Once we know what kinds of Chi or Stars are residing in which parts of a Property, we are able to tap into the beneficial Chi simply by locating someone in that Room/Area. The Direction is then used to maximise and personalise the benefits according to the favourable directions for that Person’s Life Star/KUA Number.

The ideal objective is to be in a good location with positive Chi, and facing one of our personal favourable directions. If given a choice, Location comes first before Direction. It is better to be in a GOOD Location facing a bad Direction, rather than in a Bad Location facing a good Direction.

The 4 Basic or Cardinal Directions of North, East, South & West can be divided into 8 Directions with the addition of Northeast, Northwest, Southeast & Southwest. Each of the 8 Directions can then be further divided into 3 sub-directions of 15 degrees each, producing a total of 24 Directions known in Feng Shui as the “24 Mountains”. Each “Mountain” has either a YIN or YANG polarity attached to it. A detailed version of the “24 Mountains” can be found in one of the Rings in the professional Feng Shui Compass known as the “LUO PAN”.

For a Beginner, it is not essential to purchase a “Luo Pan” as any good magnetic compass would do, but for serious Enthusiasts, the Luo Pan is essential for taking more accurate measurements and it also contains many other Rings with lots of crucial information.

Now that we’ve gotten the Basics out of the way, we can proceed to looking at the 24 Mountains Chart for 2016 and review the favourable directions of our personal Kua Number in order to navigate smoothly around the minefield of Negative Stars and Killing Stars present in 2016. ***********************

🌟🌟FLYING STARS: Water Stars & Mountain Stars.

At this stage, one might start asking what exactly is the whole purpose of going through all that trouble to find the Flying Stars Chart (with all those Base numbers, Facing numbers and Sitting numbers) and superimposing it onto the Floor Plan. What is the point of finding out what Stars are situated in which location of one’s Property?

CLUE: FACING Stars are also known as WATER Stars, governing matters related to Wealth & Career, while SITTING Stars are referred to as MOUNTAIN Stars governing Health & Relationships. Hence, the location of Water Stars in a Property will give us an understanding of their impact on the Prosperity of the Residents, while the location of Mountain Stars will provide us clues about their impact on Residents’ Health matters and Relationship issues.

Basically, we are trying to find the most prosperous or favourable areas or rooms of a Property in order to activate the good Stars or CHI. Conversely, we also need to know where the afflicted or unfavourable areas or rooms are so we can de-activate the bad Stars or Chi.

According to Joey Yap, Founder of the Mastery Academy of Chinese Metaphysics, a key principle of Flying Stars is “Forms activate the Stars, Stars in turn influence the People.” Hence, Mountain Stars are affected by the external and internal Mountain Forms of a Property, while Water Stars are affected by its external and internal Water Forms.

The FACING Star, being an active Water Star is YANG in nature and will become activated by Yang features such as lakes or pools. In an urban setting, roads, doorways, corridors, gates and junctions can also be considered Yang features. On the otherhand, the SITTING Star, being a static Mountain Star, is YIN in nature and will be activated by a Mountain, Hill or Higher ground. Large buildings and solid structures can also be considered Yin features.

TIMING is important, ie, knowing when to activate a Star so that its positive attributes manifest. The timeliness of a Star will depend on the Period concerned and whether the Facing Chart reflects the correct Period. During this Period of Eight, the Stars #8, #9 and #1 are timely whereas during the previous Period Seven, the timely Stars are #7, #8 and #9. Hence, it is important to get the correct Natal/Period Chart for your Property less you end up activating the wrong Stars.
