the golden years stack themselves like coins in my palm, asserting their worth like it is my own. moulding themselves into a bold fantasy, of long roads and deep, lush sunsets, drifting hair thrown back and cold glass. the infectious whisper of illegal laughter, high and bright, clouded whispers. contained in a glass sphere, the perfect snapshots of a hallowed age. as distant as the end of an echoing tunnel that elongates, spinning itself away as i squint at it through half shut eyes; and as my pupils slowly widen, searching the air for a trace of a dream land, left wondering if it ever truly existed at all.
