Boston Symphony Orchestra tickets!
The Russian Area Studies (RAS) Program is sponsoring a field trip for 35 people to see the Boston Symphony Orchestra perform an all-Russian concert under legendary conductor Lorin Maazel in Boston at Symphony Hall on Thursday, 24 April. The performance starts at 8:00 p.m. and finishes at around 10:00 p.m. We will depart on a large Crystal Transport bus (WIFI and bathroom on board) from in front of Alumnae Hall at 6:30 p.m. sharp and arrive back on campus on the same bus at around 10:30 p.m. The price to you is only $15, and includes the bus ride to and from the concert, as well as excellent seats, close to the stage in the Orchestra section. The program boasts some of the richest and most readily appealing music ever written by Russian composers:
MUSSORGSKY: St. John's Night on Bald Mountain RACHMANINOFF: Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini (with pianist Behzod Abduraimov) TCHAIKOVSKY: Symphony No. 5
Interested? Students may sign up in an empty slot in this Google Doc sign-up sheet. All currently enrolled Wellesley students may now sign up. After the 35 tickets are spoken for, a waiting list will be kept on the Google Doc sign-up sheet; you can monitor your progress on that waiting list simply by checking the Google Doc. I strongly recommend that you not give up hope, even if you are on the waiting list, since there are frequently last-minute cancellations on trips like this. Tickets will be handed out on the bus. Make your $15 check payable to "Wellesley College RAS," and bring it to Founders 416, M-F, 11:00-3:00, by Friday, 18 April, to give to the administrative assistant on duty. If no one is on duty, you may put your check into the mailbox marked "Admin. Asst." over the fridge in FND 416, opposite the desk. If you need to cancel, please remove your name and info from the row you had filled in as soon as possible, come back to FND 416 to ask for your check, and RAS administrators will take care of moving people up from the waiting list. Please remember the Honor Code as you follow all the aforementioned rules for signing up.
